Question D & C Last week, question

Hello ladies, I have a question. I had a D & C done last week, December 20th. I bled a little bit and now 6 days past the procedure I have started bleeding a little more and have passed a few small clots. Is this normal? I have my follow up on January 10th. What will they do at this appointment?

I have stayed on Metformin 850 twice daily in hopes that it will keep my cycle somewhat regular. DH and I want to TTC after my first cycle. I am hoping that since Clomid worked the first time, it will work again the second time. That is the only thing that is keeping me going now, I am praying to God that I will get a BFP fairly soon. I am inspired to see a lot of success on becoming pregnant again. Is there anything I can do to increase my changes the next time around?

Thank you and here's to a wonderful 2007 full of BFP!!

I had a D & C (12 wks) Nov 15th and the doctor said even if I stopped bleeding that it may start again (within the first two weeks out) so I would guess that it is normal.

Did your Doc give you the go ahead to TTC after one cycle?
I know there is some debate out there over this.....and I am with you, TTC again is what keeps me going now. (although I was advised to wait 3 months....no BC needed though) I am not supposed to be "trying" but in my heart I am trying. I figure the odds are against us getting prego in the first one or two tries so figure we'll get started now knowing there likely will be a wait- (although we TTC naturally, only met last time)

Thank you all for your responses. I will just assume that what is happening is "normal." The discharge that I do have doesn't even go onto the pad I am wearing, I can just see it when I wipe. Gosh, I am ready to start my period again so we can start TTC again!

One more question, is the day I had my D & C considered day 1 for my cycle?

From your experiences, was it easier for you to conceive after having your first miscarriage? DH and I tried for 13 month before (2 on Clomid) and I don't think I can bear to wait that long again!

Thanks and best wishes to everyone in 2007.

I don't know if my body "thought" the post D & C was like a period (cycle day 1) but it really felt that way- to include other period symptoms.
I had D & C on 11/15 - bleeding for less than a week. Then got my period 12/15 - so like clock work for me. Doc said if no period in 6 weeks then call. It sounded like it likely could take your body longer to get back into a true cycle - although I responded well (quickly).
I had no intention to try TTC before a period- just wanted to get the period to know that I could start charting etc. Gearing up for true TTC maybe next month or so- although like I said my heart is pushing for pregnancy asap-

Jennifer,
I am sorry to hear of your loss.

I had a m/c and D&C on Dec 23, 2002. It was a hard Christmas that year.

I don't remember the exact details of my post D&C experience, but it seems that I continued bleeding for a long time, at least a couple of weeks or longer, and then it seems like the first AF took a long time to arrive too. I don't know if that is "normal", but it could be just because of the PCOS, and not really be a sign of any complications of the D&C.
I thought that rather than the body treating post D&C like a regular period, that it was more like being post partum. SO you might have to wait for AF before you begin counting your cycle days.

I was told to wait until I had two AF's before I started to TTC, so I did, but then I went back to TTC after the second AF arrived. The midwife kept saying to me that some women have a hard time emotionally after m/c, and that it was OK to take some time to grieve, and recover, but I was so desirous to have another baby, that I wanted to start TTC again as soon as I could. I had already been TTC for 3 years, I certainly didn't want to wait any longer

My my second AF came on CD35. That is when I started alternative things to treat my PCOS. My next AF arrived on CD28. I had 2 more 28 day cycles, and then got the BFP. After I got the BFP, I was so scared of having another m/c that I started Met, and progesterone in addition to the alternative Tx's that I was taking, just to make sure that I was doing everything I could to prevent another m/c.

I wish you all the best as you TTC again. Hope you recovery well from this D&C and that you get that BFP soon.
