Default D-Chiro Inositol

I have been doing a lot of research about the use of d-chiro inositol to manage PCOS and I was wondering if any of you have any experiences with the supplement. I am wary of trying it because a)it is not yet readily available in the US, b)is very expensive from the one US vendor that sells it (http://www.chiralbalance.com/store.html) and c) I am TTC and worried about its possible effects on a fetus. There are several medical journal articles from the past five years that seem to prove that d-chiro inositol can reduce insulin resistance in PCOS, helping women to lose weight and sometimes even begin ovulating on their own. I will attach a journal article from The New England Journal of Medicine on the subject. There is a clinical trial going on now at The University of Virginia on this very topic. I'd love to get your input if you've tried d-chiro inositol and if you've discussed it with your dr and/or holistic health adivsor.

I have done a lot of reading on this subject, and I decided to take regular Inositol. Studies were also done using this B vitamin, and seemed to be effective in a lot of women with PCOS. It's a billion times cheaper than D-Chiro-Inositol, and from what I could understand from the medical studies that I read, your body converts Inositol into D-Chiro-Inositol and some other byproducts anyway. At least that was my understanding. I haven't seen any effect yet, as I've only been taking it for a few weeks, but I will for sure post if I do. I haven't had a normal period in a year and a half, so if I do, I'll know it was the Inositol. I've been upping my cinnamon use too, but not every day or a certain amount; just working more in when I can, and taking a multivitamin, which I didn't do before. Google "Inositol and PCOS", and you'll find the studies I'm talking about. Good luck!! I feel positive about it.
