Question D-Chiro Inositol

Has anyone discussed the recent studies showing DCI as effective as met for PCOS with their Dr? I'd love to hear a doctor's perspective before forking over $175 for a supplement, but it does sound incredibly effective. Anyone been taking it?

I am taking regular Inositol, as it is much cheaper and widely available, and there is research that it helps too. Here's the study I read.

I just stumbled upon DCI myself. Here's the report that I read:

http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/...ct/340/17/1314

I am amazed by the fact that 19 out of 22 who used it ovulated. I'm going to go look for some and pray that it is filled with baby dust!

Well with all of the metabolic abnormalities that it corrects, it seems like PCOS is a DCI problem. So it would seem like everyone should be taking this stuff. Anything else would just be compensating.

I've been taking myoinositol (which is the same as inositol) since April 3rd since then I've had 2 cycles on my own, and I started spotting today on CD 29! I did notice some EWCM this cycle, but I'm not checking to see if I ovulated or not. I'm just giving all the vitamins that I'm taking a chance to really get in my system and start to work before I concentrate on getting pg.

I was prescribed myoinositol by my naturopath and I take 1500 mg per day.... 750 in the morning and at night otherwise it has a laxative effect. She also prescribed me other vitamins but it wasnt until I started taking the myoinositol that anything started to work.

Good Luck!

Oh and I forgot to mention I pay $8.00 for a 50 day supply of myoinositol at super suppliements. Way better than the DChiro.

Hi! I believe that the inositol I was taking last month helped bring on AF on her own. I haven't had AF on my own for 6 years! I started 1300mg inositol daily, then I ordered the Buckwheat farinetta, which is supposed to have 1300mg at least of DCI for every 1/2 cup, and ate 1/2 per day in muffin form. Sadly, I just couldn't take the farinetta for more that 4 days, it honestly tasted nasty. I continued 1300mg inositol though. I think I even ovulated (check my chart for last cycle)!

Towards the end of my cycle I dropped inositol to 650mg because I started 1500mg met and didn't know if I was taking too much.

All in all, I truly believe inositol really helped me. I am taking clomid with this cycle and will see if I get a BFP. If not, I will continue inositol and DCI in some form, whether it be in the farinetta I have left over or the DCI pills from chiralbalance.com if I have the money.

Inositol and/or DCI is def worth a try!

I just ordered one month of the DCI from Chiralbalance.. damn thats expensive! I also ordered the buckwheat farinetta.. I hope i can stomach it.. I'd much rather use that then pay $85 a month for this other stuff.. is it really that rank? What does it taste like?

I found a product called Vital Nutrients d-pinitol 600 (says that it supports ovarian helath and insulin sensitivity) it contains d-pinitol, 600mg; chromium, 250mcg; and vitamin d3, 600iu.

I first saw it advertised through a PCOS website for $117 per bottle. I googled it and found it for $50 per bottle. I haven't started taking it yet because I just started Met (and it's much cheaper through insurance than any supplement it seems) and I wanted to talk to my natropath first before doubling up on meds/supplements.

D-Pinitol is the same as D-Chiro and Myoinositol (inositol). And D3 supports ovarian function that I do know because I'm on it too. Chromium helps with insulin sensitivity. Sounds like its a good mixture, but I know you can get all 3 separately for cheaper than $50.00. So if you want to take them then I would say buy them separately.

OMG Sooo expensive....DCI but I have to say. Above the initial expense there was an $80 fee for brokerage from UPS to ship to Canada. I have experienced less mood swings, and I had my first night sweats last night since I started. I was getting them every day or everyother for a while there. ( yesterday I think I missed the morning dose but I didn't want to dubble up in case I had ).

Also I have had more energy that is consistant throughout the day with less crashes. I feel it has definately leveled out my sugars. I will post in another week.

Well, I am starting the buckwheat farinetta again today to see if it will help me O. This is Cd16 and I took clomid Cd3-7 and have not seen any signs of O . So I searched for any buckwheat farinetta recipes to try and I did find one and it was great compared to the farinetta muffins which are bland.

But you know when I did eat the muffins when I first tried farinetta I felt great. I had great energy, and more energy. It helped a great deal. I hope I get the same results this time. I just posted a thread on the recipe I tried here.

freemang- how long have you been taking DCI pills? I want to try them but too expensive.

I have been taking them for a week today, I can definately feel the difference. More energy is the most thing I have felt. I am not sure if its my imagination but my breasts are bigger too. Have also noticed more frequent BM's from one a day to two. ( more "normal" ) However they are not urgent like they were on Metformin.
