Can someone please tell me where D-Chiro Inositol comes from? Is it only in Soy? I also wonder where the ingredients for the pill form come from. I can't get excited knowing D-Chiro Inositol comes from soy. I am highly allergic to soy and although this may benefit most of you, I would not be able to reap the rewards.

I believe, and I could be wrong, as I said, I am just getting into this research part of it.....that Carob is the ingrediant with which it carries a higher number of what you are looking for. I've heard that PURE Carob syrup is a great start....as for the pill......I have no clue...I believe kitty along with a few other cysters who've done that research can answer that....but it looks like (based on the information above given), that The Drug Administration will not allow that information to be processed to the public because number one, it would put the makers of Glucophage (or so they say) out of business...or at least lose some money. Yikes, I won't give too much info for fear I don't know the full concrete truth.

Guys,

I think the research on the pharmaceutical insolitol is very promising and I can't wait for it to be available to all us cysters! BUT.. I'm pretty sure from what I've read that we can't convert the normal stuff found in food into the kind we need for our bodies (I think that is the basic problem).

Can anyone confirm this (scientifically?)??

Thanks,

Miranda

Default birth control

hi I just happened to read your post today and I was wondering if the doctors tried to give your birth control like ortho tri cyclene or something along those lines.

I know you were trying to conceive but the reason I ask is that my doctor asked me if I got a period while on that BCP and that if I took it and did not it may indicate that I may have already gone through menopause. He stated that it is possible for a woman to have menopause at a very early stage in life, and hearing how all these fertility treatments have not worked for you, it made me wonder if this was the case for you.

I hope not, but it may be an avenue you want to look in too.

Good luck to you!

Alfalfa - 240mg
Barley - 390mg
Beef - 260mg
Brown Rice - 700mg
Cauliflower - 92mg
Chickpeas - 760mg
Grapefruit - 150mg
Lentils - 410mg
Molasses - 180mg
Oats - 320mg
Oranges - 210 mg
Peanuts - 210mg

Soy Lethicin 2,100 mg
Strawberries - 95mg

Does that help?

I love, love, love chickpeas!! I sometimes even eat them straight from a can.. It's so good to hear they contain SO much DCI, now I feel encouraged to eat them even more often, woohoo!

Whoa, are they really going to start producing it as a drug? I used to get mine from chiralbalance.com

I had irregular, wild, SHORT cycles, was medium to thin weight over the PCOS years, acne, hairloss, and fatigue. Tried metformin (hell), letrozole (so-so), and Clomid (bust) no babies. No ovulation, except one letrozole cycle.

I began DCI in Jan 2005. I had a 21 day cycle, longest in 2 years. Then a 26-dayer with a weak ovulation. Then a bfp! It was the first time (without letrozole) I had ovulated normally in almost 10 years (since depo me for life). In the meantime on the DCI, my hair quit shedding and I began to lose weight (3 lb/ 3 mo--wondrous for someone who had been gaining for 8 months straight).

I'm a believer, but I went off it when BF DD, and never could really afford to start it back up. I was on the verge of doing it again, when my doc talked me into YAZ (plus DH sick of condomns). Hated the YAZ, came off it, and got a very surprise bfp.

After this is all said and done, I'll be back on the DCI. Especially if it turns into a "real" drug and I can pay $30 for it per month instead of $150.

bmgjarvis, I'm afraid I read elsewhere on the forum that the amounts listed behind the foods aren't miligrams of DCI, but of plain inositol..

guineapig, I'd love to try DCI in pill form. It really stinks the industry doesn't just market it like they said they would. Didn't I read somewhere that they want to produce it as a dietary supplement instead of a drug? I don't know where I read it, but I think you posted on that thread as well..?

July,

There are a few places that sell DCI - chiralbalance.com is one, dchiroinositol.com another. There may be more.

It's really confusing trying to find out what foods contain DCI and which just inositol. One company makes the DCI from the d-pinnitol in carob (d-pinnitol is the precursor to DCI), I have read that soy lecithin contains it 2100mg/100g and also buckwheat farinetta in good amount, but I can't get that. Whether the cauliflower, peas, chickpeas etc contain inositol or DCI I just don't know. Hope this helps.

cyvex.com sells 1kg and 5kg lots of DCI for $585/kg plus shipping. It's a lot, but much much cheaper than any of the other distributors. Maybe if a few women in a similar geographic area got together they could split a kilo.

I just looked up the cyvex.com site and there was a press release about their DCI supplement. At the end of the Press release it stated that their DCI was suppled to them by Amicogen of South Korea. I went to the Amicogen web site and thier site states that the product is Pinitol. This makes me unsure if the product is truly DCI.
