Talking Dancing around my desk...

With Metformin in my hands YAY!!!!

After all the trials and tribulations of the past few months and my struggle to get the prescription, I now have in in my sweaty paws!!!!

I have to go to the hospital on Monday morning for a fasting glucose blood test and then can start taking the pills, I can't tell you how excited I feel!

I have been told to begin at 500mg a day rising gradually over the next three weeks to 2000mg per day.

Stomach cramps & sickness here I come!

Congratulations!!!

I'm in the same boat, only without the struggle you have had to get the damn tablets - GP gave them without any argument on the advice of my Endo. Why are we both so happy about something that might make us feel dog rough LOL

Confused that my GP has given me 2x500g per day and didn't tell me to build it up gradually. I'm going to just take half in morning with food and half in evening for a week and see what happens before building up to 1000g a day.

Starting mine tomorrow morning (thought it best not to start them on a workday). Got 12 pack of toilet roll and Immodium on standby <g>. I'll let you know.

Well done for your perseverance - why is getting the script such a lottery in this country??? It's sooooo wrong, we have enough to worry about without have GP's little foibles thrust upon us.

Congratulations!

You definitely need to build up gradually. It does get better after the first few days! You have to keep telling yourself that. Be prepared for loss of appetite and not wanting to eat the same things as usual too.

I've found I want to eat lots more 'fresh' food, fruit, salads (but no mayo type dressings), green veg etc.
