but the basics is I've just had labs done on Monday.. an waiting to hear back next week if I will be Dx'd with PCOS for sure or not.. though my Doc is fairly certain I have it.
But one thing my Doc was saying.. has left me somewhat confused...
He is saying I'm at a high risk of going obese... I'm thin 5'10" an around 130 lbs... (flucuates 5-10 lbs easily)...
His concern is that IF I do get pregnant an IF I do carry the baby full-term ... that I will run a high risk of flipping to the opposite end of the spectrum, I'm currently thin with hypoglycemia ... he's thinking I could easily be obese with Diabeties!? He'd want to monitor my weight gain closely if I got pg.
Have any of you all been told this.. experieced it.. or fear this??
I'm kind of confused by it.. in some ways I see how it might could happen.. but I've always been thin.. an have a really really hard time picturing myself going to the opposite end of things.

My symptoms have also worsened, going from irregulary ovulatory cycles to anovulatory. It really worries me that I'm on a downward spiral, but since I know about PCOS, I can prevent it before my symptoms get worse.

I weighed 174 when I had my DD. I will admit that no weight, other than that I lost at delivery, came off until I stopped breastfeeding (I know it is opposite what they say happens but then I've never done anything by the book!). As soon as I stopped I was down to around 140 again. I started Met and dropped about 10lbs to 130. I range from 125 to 135 depending on season, time during cycle, etc.
From all of the above, I'm trying to say don't worry so much about it until you absolutely have to worry about it.
Good Luck,

During both of my pregnancies I gained plenty of weight, 40 pounds the first and 60 the second. I don't know why, maybe I was IR but I never tested gest. diabetic during my sugar tests. I lost the weight both times, the last one being the most difficult. I do not think I overate but my body did just gain. My doctors were never too worried about this and didn't bring it up. I did however since I know dieting during pregnancy is a no no. Possibly now that I've learned about the IR diet, that could have helped. At 38, after two pregnancies, I continue to be a thin cyster and deal with all the concerns I had before getting pregnant like how to treat this when I don't test IR. I am currently trying Avandia in place of bc pills.
I do believe a lot of this is genetic and if you are thin genetically, with out a careless lifestyle you should remain so. If however you find yourself gaining weight rapidly this could be a sign of IR showing itself and it should be checked out. Don't worry until you need to. Who knows what may happen. Good luck with getting pregnant and pregnancy. It is an exciting time!!!

My Mood: Points: 4,927.75 Bank: 297.75 Total Points: 5,225.50 | Hi Rae,
I do worry about this a bit. I have an older sister with PCOS, who was thin until her second pregnancy. After my nephew was born, she never lost the weight and has continued to gain and gain! Sadly, she is quite obese now. Her diet is atrocious though, and she is not active at all. Just the other day she was remarking on how I always stay so thin and reminded me that it was after she had her son that she started to have weight issues – so I should watch out! (sibling rivalry at it's finest )
I’m a lot more health-conscious then she is, and exercise regularly. I really think my sister could have maintained her weight if she’d tried.
Good luck!
Lissa
