Default Dark Circles under eyes

Hello Ladies,

Since the past year or so I have noticed the skin darkening underneath my eyes. Obviously it gets worse when I am tired, but even when I am well rested I still see them. Am I missing a vitamin in my diet or is it PCOS related? I was just diagnosed October 2008. I just hate being 26 and looking so tired and haggard. Any suggestions/ideas?

i myself can't help you out much but i will let you know that i feel the same way. i know mine get worse the more tired i get but i've even had people ask me if i'd had enough sleep from the previous night and i always say yes because i have. but the dark circles are always getting worse. and at 19 and you at 26 .. we don't deserve to have these circles under our eyes!!

do you put concealer under your eyes to hide the dark circles??

I don't normally put concealer on because I tend to break out when I put cosmetics on my face. But, every so often I try a new product hoping it doesn't cause breakouts, but no luck yet.

I will share this article with you from beautypedia....

What can I do about dark circles?

Dark circles can be caused by several factors, and each one needs to be dealth with in a different way. Dark circles can be caused by sun damage, veins and capillaries that show through the skin, irritation, and the natural dark pigment that can occur in this area. They can also be a result of natural shadows that fall within the eye area, making that area appear darker. Plus, dark circiles can be a result of dry skin making the area look dull and tired.

Be sure you are using a lightweight moisturizer (gel or silicone-based are best) under the eye area; too much or too heavy a moisturizer can make your concealer slide off. Always use a sunscreen during the day, or wear sunglasses, which will prevent sun damage from stimulating dark pigmentation to occur.

Matte (rather than too creamy or greasy) concealers are best to cover natural shadows or dark pigmentation because they tend to last longer and not crease. Examples include Revlon ColorStay, Meybelline Great Wear, Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish, etc... The color of the concealer must be light enough to cover the dark ciricles, not not so light that it gives that appearance of a white mask around the eyes. Avoid using greasy eye pencils and stay away from mascara that smears.

If you have allergies, you may want to consider an antihistamine. Althought uncommon, food allergies may also be to blame, but this would need to be confirmed by an allergist. City pollution can also effect the eye area.

The last treatmment available is laser to help deminish and eliminate dark circles. Traditional skin-lightening will not have an effect on dark circles unless they are caused by sun damage.
