Default Dark Coarse Facial Hair Problems!!! AAAHHG!!

For all women who have the Dark - Coarse - Full Beard - My inquiring mind would really like to know what you do to make it less noticeable!

If I shave - I get the Shadow affect that makes it look just as bad - if I tweeze I get alot of ingrown hair and it only lasts for 2 days and when its growing back its harsh and impossible to pluck cuz the hairs are small stubble. It looks absolutely horrific! I have black body hair that makes me feel like everyone is staring at my face!

*Hugs*

I too have the same problem and it's really awful! I shave, only because it's the "lesser of the evils" so to speak.

My body hair is actually LIGHTER than my facial hair!! It's disgusting!

My body hair is no lighter than my facial hair...I'm dark all over! Shaving is the lesser of the evils but you gotta love the big red razor bumps...just as bad! lol

if you can try and save up and get either lazer treatments or I reccommend electroloysis; It's permanent; i have had mine done for the last two years (takes awhile cause it is quite expensive; but was def worth it; none of my hair has grown back so far; all i have left are light blonde hairs... and then it's hardly noticeable. .... but i used to shave it off too; works best and hurts less than plucking.
good luck!

I did start to have Laser treatments and I went 5 times, however, it was getting too expensive! I did like that my face stayed smooth for 2 to 3 weeks and it thinned out a tiny bit I haven't had it done for 3 years now and its still just as bad lol.....Is electro dangerous to the skin?

my RE told mw that is the testostrone levels are not low then laser treatments will not work. I wax and exfoliate every day and use jergens hair minimizing. i dont get ingrown hairs and it stay smooth for a few weeks. I sarted doing it at home...I bought a waxing set from my local beauty supply store. I shave when I forget to get more. It took me a while to get the hang of it. I use MAC studio fix pressed powder when i dont wax. it covers well with out looking/feeling cakie!!!

I will have to maybe try the jergens and maybe waxing. I couldn't afford electrolysis but what wax kit do you use? I've never tried waxing before, but I've tried the hair removal creams and they just burnt my face and you could still see the little black hair dots which gives me a shadow. I need to find some good makeup too if I can actually match my skin tone - having problems in that department too!

skittlz I really like both the Revlon Coverstay and the Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundations. They seem to look the most natural on.

I also have dark course hair on my face. I use Nair Creme for face. It's easy, and it does do a good job.

I heard that the Dream Matte Mousse works really well. I had bought one - can't remember which brand though - and I totally missed on the skin tone lol...although I would have gotten that tan look I've been trying for!

Arhhg - I have the same problem. I've just taken to plucking it all out (shaving leaves that shadow that's been mentioned before.....and the stubble feels worse than just letting it grow :s ).

Since I got my weight down by 5kg and started taking Vitamin B it's been growing back a lot slower, but it's still as dark as ever. The main prob is that I have sensitive skin and the repeated plucking for the last year or so seems to be leaving some sort of scarring (completely un-noticeable with a thin layer of face powder though....but still unwanted!!) under my chin and in the sideburn area. I've been using Marzena hair inhibitor serum which seems to be working really well too.

My testosterone levels aren't under control yet so can't do the laser/electrolysis thing (couldn't afford it anyway!). I actually started growing out some of the hair in the sideburn area rather than shaving/plucking it as it's not too thick (the stuff that only comes to quarter to halfway down your ear) and it can now be tucked behind my ear and looks completely normal anyway as a lot of women have that kind of hair growth :s I never used to have it, but now that I do - may as well make things easier on myself!

I just want to add that I am currently receiving electrolysis after about 7-8 laser sessions. Laser did help, but I had a lot of coarse hair that wasn't dark enough for the laser. Anyway, it's working well, and it's not nearly as expensive as I thought it would be. I pay like $28 for a 15 minute session. If you can hold still and not flinch, she can get a lot done in 15 minutes. I wish I'd have done it sooner. Check into it--it may not be as expensive as you think.

Good luck. It just stinks to have to deal with this problem.

Jen: Is that $28 for the electrolysis? I'm assuming that laser isn't that cheap! lol I paid a couple hundred for each of my laser treatments!

Locagirl: I know what your saying - I just have too many hairs to just tweeze so my tweezing sessions take like 3 hours!

I have this problem. It sucks. I was using Nair sugar waxing system which worked quite well but apparently they have discontinued this product because I can't find it. It was effective and not messy. You can wipe the sugar off with a wet cloth. I'm now looking for a new effective wax. I tried Sally's and boy does it suck. It doesn't get much of the hair off. Let me know what products are good.
