Default Dark patches on both knees?

For the past year or more I've had these dark (pigmented) patches on both my knees. They do not itch at all but the skin is definitely drier on these spots. The skin actually appears a bit thicker there and somewhat scaley. I've tried BHAs and AHAs and I exfoliate with bath scrubs as well but nothing helps. It always looks like I have dirty knees. I do have this problem anywhere else on my body.

Does anyone else have this? What do you think it is? Anything that might help it go away? Thanks!

Dark patches can be a sign of IR, you might want to get it checked out.

Default HI

Thanks for your reply. I recently had my glucose and insulin levels checked and they were normal, although I haven't had them checked since I've been pregnant. I had these patches then as well. I don't have any patches anywhere else on my body either. I thought maybe it was eczema or something, although since it's not itchy, that's probably not likely.

Thanks again and if anyone else has any thoughts, please let me know.

Susan

Default Sounds Like IR to me

Hi you may want to get rechecked and have a 3 hour fasting gluecose tolerance test and also look into seeing an endocrinologist. This is called nigreans acandothis I am sure I spelled it wrong. I would go back cause that is what ususally causes those dark spots and skin discolorations. If you have a random sugar check ofcourse it can be normal, it can be normal at times in people who are diabetic. So better safe than sorry. Hope this helps

Default Hi

Since I'm 25 weeks pregnant, I am due for a glucose tolerance test so maybe that will show something. I didn't realize that NA also had a "texture" to it. I thought it was just a hyperpigmented area. That's why I never thought that was what I had.

Thanks for the info. I do appreciate it.

Default Hi again

I've been looking up acanthosis nigricans and it seems as though this shows up on the neck, back and groin. Nothing mentioned it showing up in other places. So I was wondering what else it may be if not NA. I'll be getting my glucose checked anyway just to be safe, but I'm wondering if it's a fungus or something. Any ideas?
