Default Dark Patches of skin??

I have dark patches of skin on both sides of chest near my under arm and extends to the shoulder. It not thickened just dark. Like if u go under the sun, your arm gets tanned a little from where it is exposed as compared to the skin under your sleeve. that kind of dark.

I was wondering if it is considered as acanthosis nigricans or not. Or a lesser degree of it. What does your dark patch look/ feel like???

My patch was dark and rough. I wasn't 'thick', just a little raised. I had it for a year not knowing what it was until I was diagnosed and read up on PCOS. After a few weeks of going to the gym and eatting Zoned it cleared up on its own!!!

Hope that helped.

I have the exact same problem with my neck and other parts of my body- it's thicker and darker and looks like dirt and I get teased about it a lot.

If it's AN, bleaching won't have any effect.

Smile dark skin

I have the "spots" it's actually how I got my diagnosis.

I have been using Bath and Body Works Need a Margarita. It helps lighten but not get rid of the spots. It smells good and it helps exfoliate. It's a little expensive $13.00 a jar. It's better than the other scents the offer in greater quantity and less money.

It's not a great answer but it is something. My spots were almost black under my arm they are lighter but not completely gone. It's cheaper than bleaching I would think and it's a very happy smell.

I always assumed that I was IR because of Acanthosis Negricans as well as Hidradenitis Suppurativa. My blood levels show that my fasting sugar levels are normal, and my HDL and LDL are normal as well...so it's not fatty liver. If my fasting insulin levels are normal...does this mean that I am definitely not IR????? I have diabetes type 2 on both sides of my family and I wonder if this has anything to do with my symptoms without the blood results?! ~confused
