Has anyone heard of the christian band DC Talk? They were quite popular a few years ago, and im just wondering if anyone knows if the band is still together? Are they still releasing albums? And does anyone know of any good christian bands that are similar to dc talk?
Thanx your replies greatly appreciated

I LOVE DC talk!
I think they are still together, but doing solo projects.
Have you heard MercyMe? I love them. Third Day is awesome too. TobyMac is Toby from DCTalk.....Hmmmm I can't remember the names the other two are going by. Tate and KMax...maybe. Don't quote me on that.
Hugs
Julie

When DCTalk first started, they were a rap group. Not sure if you knew that or not, so their early CDs are rap. There is a CD, Supernatural, I can't remember if it came out before or after Jesus Freak, that has the same sound as Jesus Freak. Then they have a greatest hits CD called Intermission....if I'm not mistaken.
Hope you find what you are looking for!
*hugs

And you HAVE to check out NewsBoys if you are looking for Aussie bands! They are wonderful!
Officially they still ARE a band, just not touring together. The official word is they are looking forward to working together in the future. They have in the past two years done at least one concert as a band.
I love listing to DCTalk from their earliest rap to their latest solo works. I was very blessed to be able to attend one of their concerts as the first Christian concert outside church or school I had ever been to. I was amazed and have been a fan ever since.
Audio A and Newsboys I considered to be in the same league as DCTalk.
Out of their solo works, one of my favs is Irene by TobyMac. DH loves listening to Michael Tait's band, and took me to a concert. Michael sadly shared stories and terrible rumors that were circulating on the internet. He was hurt, I think by the vicious rumors that attacked his character and testimony. He said they still are a band, and not involved in the things that were said about him.

I LOVE DC Talk! I don't know much more about the band than the others have said though.
Now Newsboys, I LOVE them!! I went to school with one of the guys in the band. I was friends with his sister more than him, but a very nice guy. But I love their music!
I also LOVE the group Selah! It's more an inspirational group, but I grew up with 2 of the members, and always had a crush on Todd. (still do, even though we're both married...lol)

Jashobeam I just wanted to say your sig is so awesome!! It's so very true, and many times we forget that and get caught up in the world. Anyway, I just wanted to say that's really great, and God bless!

Wow.. memories!!! I used to listen to DC Talk when I was going through my "rap phase" in the early 90s. I saw them in concert once.. very fun. I heard the song Jesus Freak a few years ago and really liked it. I wonder if I should pick up one of their discs. Maybe my tween DSDs would like it....

Others have said this same thing. The 3 guys have done solo projects over the last couple of years. "Tate" has two albums, Toby Mac has two albums, and Kevin defintely has one album. Their albums are ALL great, but I think Toby's are especially genius. Supernatural was released after Jesus Freak - both AWESOME albums. Toby is an incredible producer; definitely one of the best in the Christian music industry.
FWIW, it might be interest considering we are a PCOS db, but Toby's wife suffered from infertility after the birth of their first son. They went on to adopt infant twins, and she became pregnant just after that.

dcTalk is my favorite group of all time. They were the very first concert I ever went to when I was in the 4th grade. I was able to go again in the 6th grade, my dad went with me and Audio Adrenaline opened for them. Dad like Audio A better but dcTalk is my all time favorite group. I like how they are still together but doing their own things right now. I have one of TobyMac's cd's and I love it. I love hearing Michael Tate's group, and Toby Mac on the radio. Haven't heard any of Kevin's stuff though Used to have the biggest crush on him.
