I'm working on putting together a regimen to TTC and I was looking at adding d-chiro-inositol to it. I thought of buying from chiralbalance but wanted to see if it could be found somewhere cheaper. Does anyone know of another source? Also is d-pinitol or inositol the same thing? Does it do the same thing?

Rhonmanning-

DCI as a pill form is only available at http://d-chiro-inositol.com/ and chiralbalance.com Most pharmaceutical companies that sell it will not sell to the public.

the first link...I have not read alot of good reports about them, and Their product looks cheaper but it really isnt when you figure it up, if you want to take 1200 mg DCI, you have to take 4 pills because only 300 mg in each, and with Chiralbalance, you only have to take 2 because there is 600 mg in each.

Plus the Chiralbalance guy is very speedy to answer emails, I had my last one answered within minutes! No kidding! I think they plan to lower the price even more if they get enough poeple ordering. They have come down in price almost 100.00, not quite
I think when the Cysters were first ordering from Chiralbalance, it was 150.00 per month

D-Pinitol is more expensive than DCI. You have to take 3x the amount of Pinitol to exchange over to the right amount of DCI in your body. So if you wanted 1200 mg DCI, you'd have to take 3600 mg Pinitol. IT is a prescuror to DCI, I think it can turn into DCI in your body, but you have to take alot of it.

The only other main cheaper route I can think of is to use Buckwheat Farinetta. 1/2 cup per day in food, provides aprox. 1200 mg DCI. There are recipes and stuff on here, and you can purchase it at Minndak.com

i almost ordered d-pinitol but it's not the same as d-chiro. d-pinitol should be converted to d-chiro in the body but not everyone makes that conversion. even if you do, you would have to consume 3x as much d-pinitol as d-chiro. all three are said to be beneficial to pcos women. i chose d-chiro because that is specifically what is deficient. i didn't want to risk that my body doesn't convert the d-pinitol to d-chiro.

I absolutely LOVE DCI I started taking it on April 8th and on May 18th I O'ed according to FF. I have only ever had 2 spontaneous af in my entire life one at 15 the other at 20. Never been preggers before (never used contaceptives except to cause af) so I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume I have't ever O'ed until what I call my "Magic Pill" DCI. I did recently start taking Met again because my insulin checked at 13 and I really want to get it down below 10 and DCI is too expensive to up the dose right now, but I know if I did I would get the results I want.

Sorry bout the repeat info. I like to tell everyone how it worked for me.

You could try a higher dose of plain inositol (also known as myo inositol). This is what I am trying as d-chiro-inositol is not available here in the UK and the tax and shipping just add to the expense to get it from the US:

Myo-inositol in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome: A novel method for ovulation induction

Authors: Enrico Papaleo a; Vittorio Unfer b; Jean-Patrice Baillargeon c; Lucia De Santis a; Francesco Fusi a; Claudio Brigante a; Guido Marelli a; Ilaria Cino a; Anna Redaelli a; Augusto Ferrari a

Abstract

Background. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is often characterized by chronic oligo- or anovulation (usually manifested as oligo- or amenorrhea), and hyperandrogenism. In addition, 30-40% of PCOS women have impaired glucose tolerance, and a defect in the insulin signaling pathway (inositol-containing phosphoglycan mediators) seems to be implicated in the pathogenesis of insulin resistance. PCOS patients are subfertile as a consequence of such ovulatory disorders and often need drugs, such as clomiphene citrate or follicle-stimulating hormone, for ovulation induction, which increases the risk of multiple pregnancy and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. We hypothesized that the administration of an isoform of inositol (myo-inositol), belonging to the vitamin B complex, would improve the insulin-receptor activity, restoring normal ovulatory function.

Materials and methods. Twenty-five PCOS women of childbearing age with oligo- or amenorrhea were enrolled in the study. Ovulatory disorder due to PCOS was apparently the only cause of infertility; no tubal defect or deficiency of male semen parameters was found. Myo-inositol combined with folic acid (Inofolic®) 2 g twice a day was administered continuously. During an observation period of 6 months, ovulatory activity was monitored with ultrasound scan and hormonal profile, and the numbers of spontaneous menstrual cycles and eventually pregnancies were assessed.

Results. Twenty-two out of the 25 (88%) patients restored at least one spontaneous menstrual cycle during treatment, of whom 18 (72%) maintained normal ovulatory activity during the follow-up period. A total of 10 singleton pregnancies (40% of patients) were obtained. Nine clinical pregnancies were assessed with fetal heart beat at ultrasound scan. Two pregnancies evolved in spontaneous abortion.

Conclusion. Myo-inositol is a simple and safe treatment that is capable of restoring spontaneous ovarian activity and consequently fertility in most patients with PCOS. This therapy did not cause multiple pregnancy.

I have made a decision to up my DCI dose to 1800 mg. That would be close to 20 mg per kg which is the higher end of the recmended dose level. As I lose wieght, the 20 mg per kg, total dose will go down. I just want to see AF or ovulation so bad. I want to take the right dose. Travis from Chiralbalance said I might need more than 1200 mg. I know I dont have much patience to wait! I have lost another 1.2# also.

Joobilee-That is good DCI is still working for you. Have you thought about doing half DCI and half Myo-Inositol scince the DCI is so expensive? Like 1200 DCI, and 2-4 gms of Myo inositol. I have thought about that for myself. Just a thought. DCI is truly a miracle. I hope it works as well for me. Your BBT chart almost looks like there is a chance you could be pregnant. You wrote you dont think you ovulated, and the temp shift is harder to read, but I think it almost looks like an Ovulation to me. Did you do a pregnancy test?

Amber2- Myo-Inositol is definatly something to try! The clinical trials are good on it. I didnt ovulate on it, but it sure made my mood better.

Thumbs up

I have been taking DCI for 2 weeks now and have definitely seen improvements in my BBT charts - approaching a normal picture instead of see-saw all over the place. Also, I didn't have to nair the blonde peach fuzz on my upper lip this week - wasn't there. yay!! I am skinny so not trying to lose weight but I definitely have more energy. Although, sometimes my hormones go a little wacky. I can get irritable at times. But hey - its worth it!

No haven't done a test yet. I don't feel preggers so I don't think I am. I'm just waiting for AF. If she doesn't show up by Sun I'll probably test.
Hadn't thought about using Myo Inos but I think it's a really good idea. I'll probably try it.

I've been on DCI for three weeks now. I have not been able to lose any weight yet, but I do feel like I have more energy and have been exercising every day. My cycle was very short, only 22 days(normally between 45 and 60) and FF said I O'd on CD9. I had 13 temps above the coverline and then AF showed. Now I am excited to see what this month will show. I'll keep you guys posted.

Herbsgirl, Amber2 and Booghie, Thanks so much for your responses. DCI sounds like the best choice and I may end up going with it but along with the other suppliments I plan to buy for my regimen, it's a little too expensive. I'll probably end up going with the myo-inositol and switch to DCI if I don't see any significant changes. I'm really anxious to get started but there are just soo many things that show promise and I can't take everything so I'm trying to narrow it down. Thanks again ladies!!

i have been taking dci for 4 weeks now and so far have seen no change. my af was already regular but has been between 28-35 days with very late/weak ovulation. I am skinny but suffer from acne and facial hair . so far my acne has been becoming worse since iv been on dci, don't know if that's the reason or just my hormones going out of wack. for the first 3 weeks i was taking my dci with breakfast, but now im taking it first thing in the morning. i am 5'6 and weigh a 115 pounds. I am currently taking 600mg of dci. shoshi29 what is the dose that you are taking? I just hope this works for me as i am trying to conceive and do not want to go on met just as yet. any advice for a skinny cyster trying to conceive?
