*It is really good for your liver

What is the best dose for Myo-Inositol?
The studies seem to be based on 2,000 mg or 4,000 mg. While there was one study on 200 mg, I recomend the 2 or 4,ooo mg dose for extra insurance that you will get all the benefits of Myo-I. Starting with 1,000 mg and gradually working your way up to the dose you choose is a good way to do it.

If your BMI is above 37, you will probably need higher doses than 4,000 mg.

Where can I purchase Myo-Inositol?
Myo-Inositol is the fancy name for regular old Inositol supplements, which can be purchased usually at health food and supplement stores, along with online stores. My favorite right now is iherb.com, but Vitacost.com, and luckyvitamin.com are also great
It is available in powder or capsule form. I take powder form, and just swallow water on top. It is not hard to take, it is a sweet powder! Much easier than swallow tons of pills, and cheaper too.

Should I take both Myo-Inositol and D-chiro Inositol or just one of them?
That is your personal choice, of course. They both have similar results in the studies, and they are both from the inositol family. However I think taking both of them could give you the best results? Myo-Inositol has been proven to help with Wieght loss, and D-chiro Inositol helps with Waist-to-hip ratio. So they both have their special things they do. They both help with Ovulation, lowering testosterone, ect. Myo-Inositol has helped my skin, and is proven to help ance and hair growth.
Alot of poeple are just taking D-chiro Inositol with good results, but a few of us take both Myo-I and DCI. Reading the clinical studies might help you make a decision also.
For myself, I take both D-chiro Inositol and Myo-Inositol. I had been on DCI for a few months, and added in the Myo-Inositol recently and I found additional benefits adding Myo-Insoitol to my regime!

How do I take Myo-Inositol?
It is recomended to spread your Myo-I into at least 2 doses, and 3 if possible. Take it 45 minutes to 1 hour before eating on an empty stomach Inositol is water soulable, so drink it with water. I just place the sweet powder on my tounge sometimes, and drink down a nice amount of water. The Myo-I just melts in my mouth! As with DCI, Caffiene Kills MYo- Inositol, and also depletes your Inositol stores in your body.

Where Can I purchase D-chiro Inositol?

There are currently about 4 places to get DCI. Keep in mind that if you purchase from iherb.com or d-chiro-inositol.com, you will have to order 2 bottles or more of DCI because the pills are only 300 mg each, so you will have to take twice as much. Chiralbalance are 600 mg each pills

http://www.chiralbalance.com/store/index
http://d-chiro-inositol.com/
http://www.iherb.com/D-Chiro-Inosito...les/18276?at=0
http://pcosinfo.wordpress.com/

The pcosinfo site may be a good choice for those ordering from Australia?

What is a good dose of D-chiro inositol?
The Chiralbalance site recomends 10-20 mg per kg of your bodywieght. From my personal experience, I think 20 mg per kg of bodywieght is the best
A kg is 2.2 lbs.

How Do I take D-chiro Inositol?
In the one of the original studies with DCI/PCOS they told the participants to take 1200 mg on an empty stomach in the morning with water, then wait one hour before eating anything. Scince then, Cysters have found it is helpful to spread the dose throughout the daytaking DCI at least Twice a day, maybe even three times per day. DCI needs to be taken on an empty stomach, 45 minutes-1 hour before your meals Also taking it before exercise is a good idea too. The main thing is that for it to absorb into your body right, it needs to be on an empty stomach. It is also important that DCI be taken with Water, because Inositol is water soulable

Caffiene kills Inositol in your body. I try to steer clear of caffiene and drink only de-caff most of the time.

4 weeks on DCI--- 1200 mg (even though I am a larger girl and could take more, but can't afford it).
Changes observed- decreased hair growth over entire body, increased energy, decreased appetite (even though that doesn't stop me from eating all the time), BBT fairly level between the high 96's and 97's. I haven't observed a O yet, just stopped spotting for the past 6 weeks so I feel like my body is "resetting". I've had a little more acne than normal, but nothing that isn't easy to take care of.
I told my co-worker all about it because she has the exact same medical issues as myself and she ordered some and has been taking it about a week. She has so much energy and a decreased appetite. She had some painful cramping yesterday in the ovary area, but we thought that was a good sign. :-) I'm trying to get my sister to start taking it too. I'm not sure if it's a miracle pill yet, but it is DEFINATELY well worth the money and it makes you feel so much better. Catch up with y'all later~ praying and hoping for an baby sometime in the future!

The chiral site pointed me to here yesterday. Has anyone arrived at a conclusion as to why ob/gyn's don't even mention such a treatment? I was diagnosed in 2000 as PCOS. Looking back, I can tell you i was PCOS as a teenager. Hirsuitism and unpredictable periods. The hair has gotten worse. Granted, as teen sugar was my best friend. My weight stayed at a reasonable amount til my 20s when i started gaining slowly at the rate of 1/2 to 1 lb per month - but I chalk that up to a slight amount of overeating + emotional stress of the job I was in during most of those years. I have seen the hirsuitism get a bit worse (hair growing dark on the upper part of my wrists now) and seen some funny things happen with weight. I saw my ob/gyn a couple of weeks ago and received applause when I told him we had purchased an elliptical trainer and I was on it 5x/wk. He would say that yasmin has held my weight in check (have been on it since 2002 - first bcp that i was able to stay on past 4 months). I'm 40 now and not looking to have any kids, but after reading others' experiences with DCI, I'm thinking the boost in energy and the decrease in craving sweets would be a boon for me. I have noticed lately that when i crave sweets (did someone say chocolate? ;p) I am satisfied with less. The thought of a big piece of chocolate cake almost turns my stomach where as half of one piece from a two piece butterfinger package satisfies (that absolutely thrills me). The only other thing I have to deal with at this point is a gp who wants to put me on WelChol. After reading about it, I'm not wanting it. The site reports it can lower blood sugar - something I don't need as my blood sugar (and thyroid) are normal. In 2000 I was put on metformin but taken off of it after a week because I would get shaky, need to eat to feel happy every two hours but was suicidal after one week.
How do inositol supplements that are not DCI measure up to DCI?

texacacti-

regular Inositol (also called Myo-Inositol) is different than D-chiro Inositol, as it seems that DCI works better for insulin resistance and BMI than Myo-Inositol does for these things.

Both of these supplements are good for PCOS, and both have positive effects on PCOS. For the best effects, I think both should be taken.

I just ordered mine, and received it Saturday.

One question - if you have to take 2 pills (1200mg), do you split it up to twice/day? Or do you take them both at the same time daily?

Thanks - E

The original study was done taking 1200 mg after waking in the morning on an empty stomach, then you should wait one hour before eating.

It is important to take it the same time each day, and not miss a day. Some women do take it more than once a day, but I find it hard to take it later in the day. Its best for me right away in the morning, and then wait to eat usually.

I've ordered inositol and will see how I do with that. Are there any known issues in regards to taking these with Yasmin?

Does anyone who is taking or took DCI know their pre and post testosterone levels? It would be great to have a DCI thread with before and after testosterone numbers to measure the concrete impact. I just started taking it a little less than a week ago.

I e-mailed chiral balance about BCPs and spironolactone with DCI. He said that there's no interaction, but since the BCPs mask symptoms (and obviously inhibit ovulation) it may be hard to notice if if the DCI is working.

I have a problem. When I take them in the morning.. if I don't eat... I get nauseated. So I've been taking them then eating right on top. =( Is this really bad? Has anyone else seen decent results when NOT taking them as directed? I'm on 1800mg, btw.

I dont know for sure about that. I used to get a little nauseated after taking the DCI, now I have been on it for over 8 weeks, and the nausea is decreasing I think.

I think it absorbs into your body better, on an empty stomach, but ??
