Wow! I started taking DCI 10 days ago and AF is starting to make her appearance. About 6-7 days in I started to break out on my face but the break out seemed different from the normal acne I had been gettting and in different areas of my face (ie one above my eyebrow). Now this morning AF is here! Yay! It is still vey light which again is not the norm but hey I'll take it.
I posted the above on 7/29.
I have now been taking DCI for 45 days or so and AF just came to visit again. Who would have known! I am not tracking if I am O-ing since we are not TTC. I have never EVER had AF 2 months in a row. I am amazed.
Thanks for the information Herbsgirl. How do you figure out the amount of myo-inositol to take? I went to the website and it said a 1/4 tsp. Do you use the same calculation as for the DCI?
I have to say I have been on DCI since Saturday. Prior to that I was having pain on the right ovary which is gone so I am hoping my body is resetting itself. I generally overall feel better.
I am so glad I found this website. It has such great information and you all are so helpful.
Have a good day!!!
I was basing My dose of Myo-Inositol on the studies done. 2 grams, 4 grams or 200 mg. I chose 4 grams. If you look at the back of the bottle, it will tell how many mg is in each tsp.
D-chiro inositol I recomend 20 mg per kg of body weight. One Kg is 2.2 lbs. So divide your total wieght by 2.2, then times it by 20, and that will tell you how many mg of DCI to take. Some poeple take less than 20 mg per kg and get along good, but in my experience, it takes more than the 1200 mg.

For what chiral balance basic recomends, 10-20 mg DCI per kg of your body wieght. 20 mg per kg of your body wieght would be around 3.5 pills per day of DCI.
Myo-Inositol I recomend going with 2,000 mg OR 4,000 mg Dosage.

I just started taking the chiral balance 1200mg in the am....its been a week, no changes yet. I O'ed with the DCI muffins but they were becoming a pain to make. Im hoping for positive results with just DCI.
Are there any people out there who have been on DCI awhile? If so, are their periods regular now? How many have gotten pregnant? How many people are on this supplement?
Tamara
Tamara- keep us updated on how the pills go. I have been taking the pills for over 8 weeks. I had signs of ovulation, then a small temp rise, and a period, but Im not sure. I think I need more mg, but cant afford it, so Im doing Myo-Inositol also, as soon as I get it in the mail.

"The word "inositol" most commonly refers to a family of closely related substances, and often refers to the most abundant members of that family, such as pinitol. D-chiro-inositol is a very special member of that family. The body uses it when responding to insulin and it isn't abundant in most people's diets, so the body has to make it. Some people's bodies aren't efficient at making D-chiro-inositol and they can develop symptoms of insulin resistance and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). "

Myo-Inositol and D-chiro Inositol are from the same family, and they both are beneficial for PCOS.

Thanks for your response. I just found this interesting article about Pumpkin extract and D-chiro:
July 9, 2007 Pumpkin extract regenerates pancreatic cells in rats
In the July, 2007 issue of the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Tao Xia of East China Normal University, and and Qin Wang of Shanghai Jiaotong University, in Shanghai, China reported their discovery that diabetic rats fed an extract of pumpkin had lower blood glucose, increased plasma insulin, and reduced pancreatic lipid peroxidation compared with diabetics that did not receive the extract. Additionally, pumpkin was found to stimulate the regeneration of pancreatic beta-cells responsible for making insulin.
Doctors Xia and Wang divided 12 diabetic rats to receive a diet supplemented with or without pumpkin extract for 30 days. An additional group of 12 healthy, nondiabetic rats were similarly divided and treated. At the end of the study, untreated diabetic rats had lower insulin and higher glucose levels than the healthy controls, however, treatment of the diabetic animals with pumpkin extract significantly elevated insulin, thereby lowering glucose levels. Lipid peroxidation was found to be markedly lowered in the pancreases of diabetic rats that received pumpkin compared with untreated diabetics, and they had just 8 percent fewer beta-cells than healthy animals.
The protective effect of the extract may be due to pumpkin's antioxidants and the presence of D-chiro-inositol, which mediates insulin activity. By boosting insulin levels and lowering blood sugar levels, oxidative damage to beta cells is further reduced which allows for some regeneration. The researchers hope that pumpkin could be useful to treat both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
"The main finding is that feeding pumpkin extract prevents the progressive destruction of pancreatic beta cells," stated David Bender who is sub-dean at the Royal Free and University College Medical School in London. ‘I think the exciting thing is that this may be a source of medicine to take by mouth (rather than injections)."

While I have no intention of dumping my bcp, nor of TTC, I am so excited to read the results some of you have been seeing on DCI. I have to laugh because in ways this just bolsters my thinking that many conditions have an underlying nutritional "trigger". To read of some of you getting pg after using DCI and this after what I'll call "traditional medical approaches to infertility" just supports my thinking even more!
Today I see my gp again to discuss the ldl issue along with triglycerides. I fully intend on telling him that Welchol is out (I don't need my blood sugar lowered - metformin did that to me in 2000 to the point of shaking and it made me suicidal, so lowering my blood sugar is right out) but that I will be willing to (won't tell him i've already ordered inositol) take myo-inositol and/or DCI.
How many of you have seen happy drops in ldl or triglycerides? I'm almost feeling like giving him some testimonials...but I won't do any such thing unless a few on here volunteer (and, yes, I'd insist on protecting your name/location etc...given i work in support of medical research i'm a real stickler for not know who that person is behind that set of data).
hi guys,
I have been taking vitex since january and have only ovulated twice. do you think that I should use DCI instead? do you think that DCI is more effective than the vitex, as vitex is suposed to help bring on ovulation.. not sure it is working though and am desperate to get regular cycles. i've been trying so many different herbs and meds, and nothing seems to be helping. would really like to sort it out without going on clomid or worrying about IVF

If vitex has helped you ovulate, I would say its working a little bit for you. Adding DCI could help furthur, but if you can tolerate the vitex, I would recomend keep taking it. The DCI helps lower andgrogens, and Insulin resistance, so it might help you further. Vitex and DCI work in different way for the most part, but they are both good supplements to take.

Look, Discover Nutrition has D-chiro inositol only $24.95 for 60 capsules 300 mg DCI, so if you bought 2 bottles for one months worth of DCI at 1200 mg/day, it would only be only 49.90 WOW! That is cheaper than the cheapest chiralbalance has to offer right now.
Saw your note from page 1---to answer your question---after taking DCI for 8 weeks, my androgen levels dropped about 15-16%---total went from 136 to 118, and free from 13.8 to 11.
I have also seen numerous other changes, from weight loss, to satiation when eating (I could be crazy hungry and am easily satisfied now), 31/2 inches off my waist, egg white cervical mucous, to slowing hair growth. I was waiting for the lab results to really believe it, and now I do.
I take 1200 mg in the morning and try to exercise every other day in the evening. The greatest thing that I noticed is that it doesn't do the work for you---it just makes what works for "normal people" (i.e. exercise and diet) do effective. I used to exercise endlessly and not lose even an ounce. It appears to break through that.
I hope this helps and that it works just as well (if not better) for you!
By His Mercy- thanks for sharing your results. Its an encouragement that DCI is actually doing something!
I am excited...I got my Myo-Inositol in the mail today to add to my supplement regime. As you can see, I am still taking DCI, but felt I needed a larger dose or something, and i cant afford it, so I am adding some myo-inositol too.
