Hi Texascacti,

I am also interested in knowing if DCI works for high cholesterol. Last time my triglycerides were good but my LDL was still a little high. I take 500 mg of no flush niacin before I go to bed and I also exercise 4 to 5 days a week. The exercise really seemed to have helped my HDL and triglycerides. At the time I also was taking mag, calcium, and zinc. I am starting that again as well. I will have blood work mid-October after being on DCI for a little over a month - I may push my blood work back a little so as to be on DCI for 6 to 8 weeks. I am very interested to see what my cholesterol is.

I think it works best throughout your whole cycle. But some women just take in their LP. I recomend Start out with at least 50-75 mg B6 altogether, taking it throughout your whole cycle, see if it helps, and up it 25 mg at a time until you get enough that it helps. Up to 200 mg is fine, even during pregnancy, according to MotherRisk site, from what I remember. B6 is supposed to help morning sickness too.

The dark room- I found out it is very important to not even have tiny lights from the computer, Alarm clock, pager, ect. They do seem to make a difference. I am getting results in my cycle now that I have gotten more strict about shutting out lighting. I unplug or cover up those lights, and turn down alarm clocks, ect. The general rule is you shouldnt be able to see your hands 15 min after shutting off the light. The best thing, is that it is free!

Vitamin C also raises progesterone, I recomend 1,000 mg. The study was done on 750 mg but its hard to find it in that dosage. 1,000 mg is what I took before and during my pregnancy in my prenatal.

In regards to not sleeping on DCI, (i'm not yet taking any form of inositol - currently waiting for shipment to arrive) earlier this summer I had started taking a combo of calcium, magnesium and potassium. A news story talked of how this helps muscles to relax. Yes, I slept better...much better, but was falling asleep in front of the tv at 8:30. After perusing the net for some info, I found out that the combo of calcium and magnesium in the right combination is basically a sedative. The ratio is 2:1 but I don't recall in which order.
I saw the results of lab work from almost two weeks ago. The only things out of sorts were high triglycerides plus two liver function tests that were just above normal - something that I've not seen before. Since risk for hepatitis isn't an issue for me, my gp said it might be fat invading the liver in connection with PCOS. I've tossed my information to a liver specialist that I work for to see what he thinks. i do wonder if it's not just a fluke thing tied to beginning a 5 days a week exercise regimen since the blood was drawn near the end of the second week.

Hi Everyone
I am new posting on here but have read the forum many times.

I thought I would let you know that in addition to my supplements of Selenium, B6, Magnesium, Multi Vitamins etc etc I started DCI yesterday and already feel different!

Those of us in the UK are just hearing about DCI but there is no where here we can get it (that I have been able to find) so ordered from iHerb in the states on Sunday and they arrived yesterday! $25 for 30 and $12 p&p which isnt too bad.

No traditional medicines help me which is why I take the supplements which do help and am hoping DCI does too!

Will keep you posted!

Texascacti- I take 600 mg Magnesium Citrate powder in water just before going to sleep each night. It helps me sleep and fall asleep much quicker for sure. Darkening the bedroom also helps me to sleep better it seems

AFM- I am on my second day of adding Myo-Inositol to my regime. I am getting some, twinging, cramping ect down below. I am hoping this is a good sign. According to the studies on MYo-I, Follicules were developing within 8 days of starting the Myo-I. That is encouraging. Evidently it has direct effect on the ovaries.

Hello PCOS girls, I'm new posting on here but have spent many hours reading about DCI before I finally decided to order it. I've been taking it about two weeks now. The first week I broke out with alot of cystic acne and had alot of cramping. This week I noitced my skin to be softer but still no sign of AF. For those of you that have noticed significant changes on DCI please keep us posted, you give us hope!

herbsgirl,

thanks for all of that great information! i will try the lunaception! i've added a sleeping mask to my shopping list just in case i can't completely darken things - pesky street lamp is right outside. my temps are actually pretty stable - low post o and higher post o. it's just that my ovulation is week - progesterone doesn't rise enough to indicate healthy o. so maybe darkness will help with that. i think my other hormones, especially high LH are messing everything else up. i may also add the myo-inositol as it seems to have such a good effect on the ovaries. sounds like yours are doing something - yay!

moredd - congrats to you with all of the weight loss. that's amazing!!!

Hi,
have started taking Discover Nutrition D chiro inositol. Has anyone taken it?
Am wondering whether it is as good as chiral balance....
I am wanting to conceive as lost babay 22 weeks into pregnancy 1 year ago (natural conception...dunno how tht happened!!) but have had no luck conceiving as yet again.

Have period about every 2 months.... but it won't stop when it starts and have ended up taking progesterone to stop it. Was also put on clomid but found it made me have awful mood swings... I only took ot for 3 days...that was enough.

So have started taking Discover nutrition DCI yesterday after reading about it starting ovulation (not sure whether I ovulate or not....sometimes have large amounts of cervical mucas- a stretchy- but never seem to fall pregnant when that happens)

Can you take Inositol and DCI at the same time?

Anyhow my hopes are high for DCI. Also taking a natural HGH.... natropath put me onto this....Don;t know if it does anything but will give it a go.

Herbsgirl:

First of thanks SO much for all this information. Like a lot of women with PCOS I've tried EVERYTHING. Met made me gain weight. Saw Palmetto has lowered the testosterone, but I still have all the hair problems...hair where there shouldn't be any and not enough where there should be lol. I had a question about the Myo-Inositol Powder though. I found 250 grams for $45. Is this good? How many grams would I take per day?

Again thanks SO very much!!!!!! I wouldn't know what I would do without this board!

I would recomend starting with the 2,000 mg OR 4,000 mg dosage, like a few of the studies were on Myo-Inositol.

As far as price, the cheapest I have seen it is at Swanson. 227 grams for 9.99 I have never tried that company though.

http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SW116...l?n=4294967183

I take this

http://www.iherb.com/Jarrow-Formulas...227-g/126?at=0

I know Jarrow is a good brand.

You might want to start with 1,000 mg and then work your way up to 2,000 or 4,000 gradually, adding more each week, to minimize any side effects. When I first started DCI I had a little nausea, but now it went away. Now I just started Myo-Inositol and Im having some nausea, but I read it goes away after the first few weeks, so I will stick with it. Also I read to spread your dosage throughout the day helps too.

Update on me with the Myo-I... I am getting a huge reduction in cravings today. Amazing, Im not having this bingeing feeling quite like I have been. My appetite is down from being ravenous eating everything in sight to just not caring as much unless Im hungry!

Default Myo-I

After I take the Myo-I, I feel like I have really low blood sugar. I feel kinda weak and dizzy. I don't know exactly what effect it has on blood sugar, but I have been taking it for 3 weeks now with no other noticeable effects. I did start eating 1/4 cup dry buckwheat groats everyday (500mg DCI), in yogurt, and have started to see a difference so, I went ahead and ordered some DCI today. It sounds like everyone is having pretty great results from it!

how long have you been taking vitex and DCI? how do you know which one is making you ovulate? I ask because I have been taking vitex since jan this year and have ovulated twice. I had been on the pill since I was 17 and then stopped taking it last Aug - had 1 AF and then nothing until april. I spoke about both vitex and DCI with a gp yesterday, and she said that she doesn't believe in herbs (no surprise there) - said that if they worked the pharmaceutical company's would be right on it, and that she hadn't heard of DCI so it prob doesn't work. So she was no help at all, and she basically reminded me why I don't visit gp's anymore!!!
