What is the best dose for Myo-Inositol?
The studies seem to be based on 2,000 mg or 4,000 mg. While there was one study on 200 mg, I recomend the 2 or 4,ooo mg dose for extra insurance that you will get all the benefits of Myo-I. Starting with 1,000 mg and gradually working your way up to the dose you choose is a good way to do it.

If your BMI is above 37, you will probably need higher doses than 4,000 mg.

Where can I purchase Myo-Inositol?
Myo-Inositol is the fancy name for regular old Inositol supplements, which can be purchased usually at health food and supplement stores, along with online stores. My favorite right now is iherb.com, but Vitacost.com, and luckyvitamin.com are also great
It is available in powder or capsule form. I take powder form, and just swallow water on top. It is not hard to take, it is a sweet powder! Much easier than swallow tons of pills, and cheaper too.

Should I take both Myo-Inositol and D-chiro Inositol or just one of them?
That is your personal choice, of course. They both have similar results in the studies, and they are both from the inositol family. However I think taking both of them could give you the best results? Myo-Inositol has been proven to help with Wieght loss, and D-chiro Inositol helps with Waist-to-hip ratio. So they both have their special things they do. They both help with Ovulation, lowering testosterone, ect. Myo-Inositol has helped my skin, and is proven to help ance and hair growth.
Alot of poeple are just taking D-chiro Inositol with good results, but a few of us take both Myo-I and DCI. Reading the clinical studies might help you make a decision also.
For myself, I take both D-chiro Inositol and Myo-Inositol. I had been on DCI for a few months, and added in the Myo-Inositol recently and I found additional benefits adding Myo-Insoitol to my regime!

How do I take Myo-Inositol?
It is recomended to spread your Myo-I into at least 2 doses, and 3 if possible. Take it 45 minutes to 1 hour before eating on an empty stomach Inositol is water soulable, so drink it with water. I just place the sweet powder on my tounge sometimes, and drink down a nice amount of water. The Myo-I just melts in my mouth! As with DCI, Caffiene Kills MYo- Inositol, and also depletes your Inositol stores in your body.

Where Can I purchase D-chiro Inositol?

There are currently about 4 places to get DCI. Keep in mind that if you purchase from iherb.com or d-chiro-inositol.com, you will have to order 2 bottles or more of DCI because the pills are only 300 mg each, so you will have to take twice as much. Chiralbalance are 600 mg each pills

http://www.chiralbalance.com/store/index
http://d-chiro-inositol.com/
http://www.iherb.com/D-Chiro-Inosito...les/18276?at=0

The pcosinfo site may be a good choice for those ordering from Australia?

What is a good dose of D-chiro inositol?
The Chiralbalance site recomends 10-20 mg per kg of your bodywieght. From my personal experience, I think 20 mg per kg of bodywieght is the best
A kg is 2.2 lbs.

How Do I take D-chiro Inositol?
In the one of the original studies with DCI/PCOS they told the participants to take 1200 mg on an empty stomach in the morning with water, then wait one hour before eating anything. Scince then, Cysters have found it is helpful to spread the dose throughout the daytaking DCI at least Twice a day, maybe even three times per day. DCI needs to be taken on an empty stomach, 45 minutes-1 hour before your meals Also taking it before exercise is a good idea too. The main thing is that for it to absorb into your body right, it needs to be on an empty stomach. It is also important that DCI be taken with Water, because Inositol is water soulable
Caffiene kills Inositol in your body. I try to steer clear of caffiene and drink only de-caff most of the time.

Default Still no AF with DCI alone

I decided that even though its been 2 months, I'll reorder the DCI and give it a little longer. I know people have been using it with myo-inositol. How much to take?

I measured myself yesterday, and while I haven't lost more than 6-7 pounds in the last few months (and it fluctuates quite a bit), I've lost 2 inches on my waist, and 3 inches on my hips. Yay!

Sharing my little successes as I subscribe.

Default Period or no?

So I've been on the DCI for about a week and a half maybe, not sure when I started lol but it hasn't been more than 2 weeks. I have also been on Vitex for just about 2 months, the last week I have been spotting, sometimes light, sometimes heavy, towards the last few days I have been having bright red spotting, not all the time, but just sometimes, and yesterday it stopped completely, so I am wondering, was it just a light period I had? I know I never felt cramps, but my lower back was killing me the whole time which usually happens when I have a period....soooo I'm taking it as a good sign, and I would assume its from the vitex since I haven't been taking the DCI that long. I have already noticed drops in my fasting blood sugars, they were consistently in the 130's and now they are always under 120 so I'm extremely happy about that. I also noticed that I am still eating less and can go for longer periods of time without having to munch on food. I just wish it were cheaper! *sigh* I better go or I'll be late for work! Do you think I had a period?

I am going on week 6 of taking DCI and week 2 of Myo-I. I have yet to have AF but sometimes I feel like I'm going to get it but then nothing. Currently I'm taking 1200 mg of DCI and 2400 mg of Myo-I. I can't afford to take anymore DCI but I am thinking of increasing the dose of Myo-I. RoseGeranium.. thanks for the info on the endometrial cancer. My GYN has told me not to go more than 3 months without a period also.

Have a good day everyone!

I'm back, too. I'm currently waiting for DCI to arrive. I had concerns for a few days that maybe myo-i was causing issues but a trip to my accupuncturist removed those. Apparently my pulse is tired and there were GI issues going on that I didn't quite key in on thanks to the allergy-induced blockage in my head.

I feel exactly like this! I'm on CD 40 and for the past week or so, I kept feeling like I was going to get my period, but nothing. Ah well, I will give my body time to adjust to the new regimen, but it does concern me since I even used NPC this month. I may need to call the gyno for some prometrium.

Anyway I am taking 4800mg of Myo-Inositol every night as well as 1200mg of DCI for the past month. Crossing my fingers that something will happen soon.

No worries herbsgirl, I won't be giving up anytime soon I just wish AF would show her face. In the mean time, all I can do is try to eat healthy, exercise, and take all my vitaminsa nd minerals. It is very encouraging though to see everyone's progress, I'm excited that this thread has a part 3!

Marking my spot ! I've been on 1200 mg of DCI for 10 weeks now. My acne has cleared up. I have more frequent AFs every 32-35 days vs 59 (previous max) and have confirmed ovulation (just not every month and it's still not text book since after CD20). No weight lose to speak of. Considering adding Myo-I as well.

Hey guys! Update: I've been on DCI alternating between 1200 mg-1800 mg for about 10 or so weeks now. I have started back exercising since I have more energy now it's great. Lost a few pounds. I convinced a girl at work to start taking it and she loves it too! Yesterday, after much discussion, my sister ordered some as well. I am thinking about adding the Myo-I. Everything just adds up so quickly! I can't imagine my life with DCI now and I never wish to go back. Just to not have the uncontrollable cravings and intense mood swings is AWESOME! My acupuncturist is still not a true believer, but I recommend it to everyone I talk to. I think it would help anyone with glucose/insulin issues. I even had my husband take it a few days and he forgot to eat several times and he didn't feel the normal 3:00 blood sugar drop that drawls us to the sweet snacks and junk food. Thanks everyone and good luck!!!!

I completely agree! I can't imagine life without DCI! I would recommend adding Myo-I though, I didn't think it would help more than the DCI already had but it seems (with my body anyway) that they work REALLY well together. My skin seemed to clear up even more and it was less oily. I wonder if I could afford to take more DCI if it would do the same but Myo-I is so inexspensive and I really like using them together. If it doesn't help more than just the DCI it definately won't hurt to take if for a while to see.
