Points: 875.32 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 875.32 | debating if i should do this.. i was was diagnosed with pcos about a year and a half ago and i havent had major problems with it yet (luckily) besides high cholesterol, some weight gain, & no periods what so ever. Ive been on birth control for as long as i could remember and the way i found out i had pcos was i stopped taking BC for a few months and it ended in no periods for about 4 months, i eventually went to the doctors and thats when i found out.
so my question is has any of you ladies stopped taking you're birthcontrol to see if you get you're period. i know this may sounds absolutly ridicious, & im not TTC at the moment. i dont know if i just have high hopes, but what i dont want to happen is if i stop taking my BC and i dont get my period i will have to take that oh so awful painful ovulation medication to get my period again. what do ya'll think? am i being silly? ive been thinking about this for months now..

I quit taking BCP partly because no matter what one I tried I had HORRIBLE cramps ALL MONTH long. I also wanted to see how my body would react without it. I ended up in the end having to lose weight to kick start my periods, with the help of metformin.
I also had to have Provera several times in 2006 and a few times in early 2007 to get my periods.
I would definitly try it if you are worried. I was worried that when I tried I wouldn't get pregnant and having my periods has kinda put my fears to rest because I know my body is working somewhat and ovulating at least 4 times a year. I can only hope it'll get better with more weight loss.

Chromium Piconilate helps it to come when I stop the pill and it stops coming. I take that to jump start it and then start the pill from there.

i dont have weight issues. i went to my dr today and she actually knocked me back on met because my BMI is so low...but i was really irregular off BCP regardless.

My Mood: Points: 29,315.81 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 29,315.81 | I'd say if you want to try going off BCPs, then go for it. I mean, you can always go back on if things don't work out.
There's also other things you can take, like Met, to try and get your cycle regular without BCPs or provera-type meds, so that might be something to look into...might be a good time to do it since your fiance is away (you get the bathroom to yourself!)
I was on BCPs from age 21-28 and as soon as I stopped I had no periods, which is also how I was eventually diagnosed (because having no periods made me go to the doctor). I also don't mind BCPs and will probably go back on them once this baby pops out...although I hated Yaz...

Points: 518.42 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 518.42 | i came off the pill three months ago, still no period. it's so unfair because i tried coming off about a year ago, just like you, to "see what would happen" and i got my period exactly 30 days later. perfect. and i'm sure i ovulated. that put my mind at rest, so i didn't worry about ttc again. a year on, my dh and i decided to start properly trying. guess what, came off pill and no period.....grrr. i have an appointment with a gyncaelogist (spelling!) on tuesday and i hope so much that he prescribes me provera or something, so i don't have to keep waiting... |
