Deleted Thread... what's going on here?!

What kind of place is this? Is it communist? What kind of board has a moderator with unilateral power to delete any post that disagrees with her point of view? This thread has been deleted:

I said nothing inappropriate or slanderous or profane and deserve an explanation. My emails to the "webmaster" link have been returned, and I don't know where else to get answers but right here. So... what's going on?

Was the thread started by you or another cyster? If it was your thread, I don't know where it has gone to. If you replied to the thread, it could be that the cyster who started it, chose to delete it for some reason.

There was a hacker on the boards some time back and randomly disappearing threads were common. I still don't know if that problem has been entirely taken care of.

You might want to PM the mods of the forum it was posted in to see if they may know what happened.

Nope, my thread, I started it. I was debating with Christyz. I assume it was her who deleted it, because she didn't want to be argued with. Please correct me if I'm wrong Christy.........

I agree that the post should not have been deleted.
There was nothing offensive or slanderous, just a difference of opinions.
Aren't there specific guidlines for when a post should be closed/deleted?
If not, there should be! Certain mods should not have free reign to just delete a post when it disagrees with them.

I agree. If you have a problem you should always try to talk to the mods first. Insulting Soul Cysters because of one missing thread is wrong, but I'm sure I don't need to tell you that. Please delete this thread, and try to work this out off the board.

Some of us have tried pm-ing the mod...just to let you know...all I got was a back-handed "I'll watch myself"

My "What kind of place is this?" comment shouldn't be taken as an individual insult, or even a community insult, but an insult to a system that lets mods delete posts when someone differs with their opinion. Did anyone read my thread? I was very calm and diplomatic. Nothing delete-worthy. I defended my right to not be insulted when I ask a question, and I did it in a very intelligent, polite manner.

I would PM the moderator but I think this is an issue for the webmaster, not some trite answer from the offending moderator, right?

And there wasn't a response? Well, I agree that isn't right, but maybe they aren't online or maybe they just don't know why it happened. I just think that this could have been worded differently so that ppl wouldn't take offense. Deleted threads happen, and it's not always from a Mod who has a different opinion. It's the internet, not everything is perfect. But what it comes down to- is this is a free website, and ppl volunteer their time for free to keep it running. To call us "communist" because of ONE missing thread seems a little overboard to me. I'm sure if there was nothing offensive in your thread, it wasn't deleted on purpose. There are guidlines. I know that I pm ppl before I delete their thread or ask them to re-word their posts. (UNLESS there is somethind directly offensive to ONE or more ppl) I want Soulcysters to be a place where we can come and ask questions, meet other women who suffer the same disease, and have a friendly atmosphere. If we can't speak to one another in an adult manner, then how can we overcome any problems we may face? Most ppl even in real life don't want to help somebody who in one breath insults us, and in another asks for help. Try using honey before using sour.

I deleted the thread because in my opinion, it crossed a line into more than a debate...it became a personal attack. I edit/delete ANY post that has personal "digs" toward me or any forum member and that's my job as moderator.

Sugar bug's advice was perfect, that any issues need to be handled off the public forum. I really appreciate the young woman who PM'd me this morning to air her concerns, and I will absolutely do my best to address the issues presented to me.

I wholeheartedly apologize if I have offended or hurt anyone with either my words or using my admin options to delete the thread in question. I was simply using my judgement to keep personal comments from continuing.

But YOU made the personal comments. A respectable moderator would put aside her pride and let the people decide for themselves. I said nothing inappropriate and will not be slandered. You should put my thread back up. Whether we talk about it here or privately, what you did was not right.

I don't have the ability to re-establish threads. I apologize once again if you were hurt by any of my words or the fact that I chose to delete your thread...my intention was *not* to slander you, even though my words were taken as such. I did what I thought was best for the forum. and it cannot be undone now.

The SUBJECT of your thread, and your queston was totally appropriate. But the deviation from that subject included remarks that were, in my opinion, inappropriate. I hope to see all of you posting in the future, but I will continue using my discretion to delete posts with personal remarks toward anyone.
