Just for me. Mine was actually $132. I have BCBS Horizon through my job now and it's $175 so I got mixed up My twin sister has it and it's $156 for her because she's 40lbs heavier. Her employer contributes what they would have paid in insurance for her. It's tax deductible for them so they don't mind. She just drops it into her HSA. We both smoke and have PCOS. You can get just temporary insurance through them as well. Here's their website http://www.assuranthealth.com/corp/ah/

No problem Hope it helps. Dealing with a medical condition is stressful enough without dealing with insurance.

Just an update - I have gone to work for my husband's company so that we can get group insurance through Kaiser. It's a pain the way it all happened, but at least I'm covered now. Thanks for the help ladies.

Glad you got the insurance heather! I heard Kaiser is great, my aunt has them and my grandparents had them forever.

I recently found out that my insurance company is going back and denying my claims at my RE for a pre-existing condition. I had never understood this but now I found out that when my husband switched jobs and we didn't have insurance that the lapse qualified me for a pre-existing condition. I'm now probably going to have to pay thousands and thousands of dollars for infertility treatments (ultrasound monitoring and bloodwork is really all I've done to this point no iuis or anything). Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do to help with the cost??? At one point I was going to my RE 2xs per week to have my follicle size checked etc. The worst part about this is that my RE knew that I was getting denials and I didn't know. They didn't inform me or bill me so I had no idea until 2 days ago! Then they told me it's your insurance policy and it's your responsibility to know it. I told them I sat with their insurance specialist to get my benefits and understand them and they told me a waiting period only applied to IUIs. I don't have any clue where to go from here. Help!!

How long was the lapse between insurance coverage? You may have had creditable coverage that was not turned in to your new insurance. You can call your old insurance company and see what the coverage period was. Was the PCOS/fertility listed in your history when he signed up for the new insurance? How long has it been between the first processing of the claim by the insurance and when they processed it as pre-existing? Was it denied by your insurance the first time they processed it? You can appeal to your insurance company. There are different levels of appealing so your policy book should tell you how to appeal a denied claim.

As for the doctors office... they can bill you for whatever the insurance says is the patient resposibility. If you can't get the insurance to reprocess the claims then try some of the stuff in the post above to lower the bill. Let your doctor's office know that you are appealing if you are and if you aren't then write a letter asking for a discount, charity or just explain your situation so they know you are not just ignoring your bill. Keep copies of EVERYTHING you write or appeal and keep names/numbers of EVERYONE you talk to.

Good luck and if you need any help just let me know.

The lapse in my insurance was from mid May 2007 until August 1st 2007.....I started my job in July but I didnt have coverage till August! Anyhow....I haven't even received bills from my doctor's office yet and they didn't tell me I was getting denials....the only way I found out was a phone call to my insurance company. I believe my insurance company was going to submit an appeal the other day when I talked with them. I hope this all works out as it is stressful enough to be TTC but now I can't even pay to continue to TTC. I am so depressed about this situation I just want to cry every minute of the day.
