Default Dental Related Question

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if any of you have this problem. As a bit of background, I only recently (a few years ago) started going to the dentist regularly. When I went I had to have fillings done on all of my bottom molars, I had to have two pulled (including a wisdom tooth), and I've also had 2 root canals. Since I started going I've been brushing regularly (although I admit being lazy and skipping a brush or two) and I was doing very well with flossing, but lately that's been slipping to.

In Sept I went for a routine cleaning and the dental hygenist noticed that one of my molars (the one that was worst off) had a bluish/purplish tint on the gum. It's only near that one tooth and it's only on the corner by the back of my mouth. She took X-Rays and said it all looked normal so she said to just keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks and to go back if it was still there.

Well, with different things going on in my life and the holidays I forgot to keep checking it until I got a dental bill in today's mail. The invoice kind of sparked my memory and I grabbed a mirror to see if it was still there. Needless to say, it is. It hasn't changed color or shape from what I can recall. Also, I wanted to add that it's not painful at all.

I'll be calling tomorrow to set up another appointment, but was wondering if any of you might have any ideas on what it might be.

I guess nobody had any ideas on what was going on, but it's ok because I ended up going to the dentist today to have it looked. I thought I'd post the results just in case someone in the future does a search or something for this. According to my dentist it's nothing at all to worry about. She said it has something to do with a silver filling that I had in that tooth. Apparently the silver fillings can discolor the gums. So, she said not to worry about it. I'll still keep an eye on it just to be safe, but as it is right now, it's nothing! I feel so much better knowing that!!!
