Default Depilatory Creams Don't Work On My Face!

Does anyone else have problems with depilatory creams not working on their face?

I have tried several brands of creams, gels and foams, and while they work perfectly well on all other areas of my body, they just won't budge the hair on my face in the slightest, no matter what I do.

Do any of you have any suggestions or tips - or find the same thing happens?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I tried using some on my face... I don't even have thick hair there, just lots of soft stuff that makes me look fluffy and some of it grows too long for my liking... anyway, it didn't work and apart from scrubbing at it vigorously - which I don't think you are meant to do - I doubt it would have budged. I actually got nasty scabs from it on both sides of my face... it looked like it had burned my face and I had to go to work with these big beard area scabs as if I had fallen over and grazed my face - very embarassing!! :o PLUS the hair was still there and now everyone had the equivalent of neon lights advertising it!!

The thing that I have found works quite well is cold wax strips, which you rub in your hand before unsticking them so that they warm up a bit. I have even bought ones made for use on the legs and then cut them up into the right size to use for my face. I have not had a bad reaction to them either, although the area looks a little red for a while - just like normal salon waxing - but it soon calms down.

Thanks Vicky-Louise

At least I know I'm not the only one it doesn't work for - but that's awful about the scabs and stuff on your face! Ouch, you poor thing!

I don't know if waxing would be any good for me, because it would mean I would have to grow that hair, and it's just too thick and obvious to do that. I normally wax my legs so I'm not worried about using wax - it's just getting the right length on my face is impossible.

Looks like I have to keep saving for that laser treatment!

Thanks
K

Ooh yeah I was having a thick moment and forgot about letting it grow duhhh hehe. Ummm I think laser sounds like a good idea. I hate the fact I have so many areas of my body that need attending to for different reasons it seems to take forever. I am going to look into the laser option for other hair on my body.

Same problem. I've tried a lot of different creams and none of them do a single thing...except for the few that gave me a nasty rash. I just gave up and resigned myself to shaving. *sigh*

I have got sensitive skin, when I use the creams or bleaches it burns the heck outa my skin, or I get some swelling that lasts a week or so. So I am sticking to plucking the hair out, I am terrified to shave, thinking it will get worse.....(yah like it can get any worse) I am using one of those Emjoi hair removal tweezing devices, now my chin is just numb. I HATE DOING THIS

I'm lucky in that my skin doesn't seem to be overly sensitive - just resilient on my face to these products!

I use the Nair foam on my legs, tummy and feet and it seems to work very well - in fact I find it leaves my skin very silky and for longer than shaving.

But nothing seems to budge those horrible thick ones on my face! Shaving is the only solution I seem to have at the moment (while I save for laser treatment)

I tried one of those tweezing devices (a Braun one) and while it's effective on my legs - it's just too painful for my face. And the hair grows back just as fast as shaving anyway!

I HATE DOING THIS TOO!! It's the bane of my life and really does hold me back on so many things.

But at least now I know that I'm not the only one out there battling with this stupid thing - it makes it so much easier to know I'm not alone.

Hugs to all my hair-grappling cysters!
Kath

I sometimes end up using Nair, but it doesn't really work well on its own,(for me) So if I'm looking for a really nice smooth look, I nair and then shave after. I only ever did that on my legs b4, but today I tried my face, b/c I started getting sideburns! how terrible . But anyhow thats what I've been doing, it takes forever though.
