Default Depo-provera and months of menstration

Greetings,

Recently (about 2 yrs ago) I was diagnosed with PCOS. My menstrual cycles where so heavy that they left me unable to work or do almost anything for those 4-5 days. My Dr. tried a number of things to get this under control with the latest being 'the shot'.

My sister had been on this drug before and had gone for a few years without a menstrual cycle and I thought this sounded like a wonderful idea. However, it seems things are not always what they appear. My first shot was fine for about a month and then I started to menstruate and I haven't stopped. They suggested I take my second shot because sometimes it takes a bit to sort things out (or so they say).

However, I'm currently starting on my third month of menstration and I'm rather frustrated. My next Dr's apt. isn't until the 21st of Oct. and frankly this is just getting to be a bit much.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you solve it? Was there some other medication that could be added for the duration of this shot that would stop the bleeding?

Yep, I had this problem with the Depo, too--I bled for six weeks straight, and it wasn't just spotting--it was all-out, clotty, icky bleeding.

At the time, I didn't do anything about it. I just let it pass--and after 6 weeks of bleeding, I didn't get a bleeding cycle for over a year after stopping the shot (I think I was on it for about a year and a half), when they induced a cycle so I could start BCP.

I had constant spotting about a year ago, and I was prescribed a 10-day cycle of Provera. That took care of it, and even has seemed to regulate my cycles. Have you talked to your doctor about something like that?

After my first was born I took Depo Provera worst thing I ever did. It took me forever to have my second child due to that shot I wish I never took it. I only bleed for 10 days I have heard of others bleeding for 6 weeks thank goodness not me. I think to stop bleeding you'll need provera it'll stop it and you'll start fresh. Good luck I know how bleeding for so long can be.

depo is the devil. I really think that is what caused my pcos. Depo eventually stops your periods. i had normal periods until i took depo..i took depo for a year and never got a period for 10 years after taking it, gained weight..etc.. Oct 21st is a while away if you are still bleeding all this time.
