Unhappy Depressed and unmotivated...

My husband and I have been TTC for over a year now. When I was dx'd with PCOS, it was really upsetting to me. Lately, I've been hearing all these success stories, but I'm still not encouraged. I'm what most people would call a lazy person...it's not that I WANT to be. I long to exercise and eat right. I long to do housework and make my husband happy in that aspect. I just don't know why I can't bring myself to get up off the couch and do these things!
I used to be very active! I weighed 130 when I graduated High School, 150 when I married my husband a year later, and I now weigh 205 (we've been married for 3 years). My weight disgusts me. Every time I look in the mirror, I want to cry. I don't even feel comfortable being naked in front of my husband anymore.
What discourages me most is that I feel I'm the only one who can help me. That and the fact that I have no one to support me. I feel so alone in this fight and somedays I wonder why I even bother getting out of bed...
Help.

You sound a lot like me. Have you thought about talking to your doctor about diagnosing you for clinical depression?

First, I would talk to your doctor about how depressed you are - you dont have to feel this way!
Secondly, exercise! I promise you, if you regulary exercise, the diet will follow. Its like your body begins to crave good healthy food to fuel your workouts. And you don't have to start by going all out - just make a promise to yourself that you'll do something for a few weeks, sort out what your obstacles are likely to be and make a plan to overcome them, that way when you meet those obstacles, you wont trip up!

Exercise has not only done great things for my physical health but my mental health has improved like I've never felt before. This time last year I was depressed and suffering severe anxiety. I started on an exercise 'binge' (and antidepressants, although they didn't last long) when my workplace gave me a pedometer and we all started training for walking races.

And you know what... you can get off the couch and do those things you want to do! You aren't lazy! I was where you are and that first step is the hardest but its so rewarding when you start meeting those goals you have set for yourself!

Smile Thanks to all!

Thanks so much for all the support! This is a wonderful site!
February--I'm going to try my hardest to get my butt off that couch and start exercising! =) I had a workout partner for a while, but she got a new job and we're not able to exercise together anymore. It's so hard trying to motivate myself!
Snowflake--Feel free to email me any time! (That goes for everyone!) I have no job and no life, so maybe we can get our own little support system going here. =) (tkprice42206@yahoo.com)
Groupie--I have thought about that, but I'm just leary of anti-depressants...
I'll keep you all updated!
Meanwhile, I'll just keep praying!
Thanks again!

Being overweight can be quite challenging. To start is the hardest

I tell my best friend who suffers from depression due to her PCOS and obesity that if she really wants it you have to fight. You may not start out on the best foot but keep trying.
