Default Depression and Menstrual Cycle

Hi Everyone,
I haven't posted much on here but I do read a lot of the threads. I guess I'm just going through a pretty bad time. Although tonight I did get my period(yay) they are SO irregular and I feel like every month I don't get my period I gain more and more weight...which makes me feel worse about myself, and I wonder if the weight gain causes the period not to happen or vice versa and it's just such a bad cycle.
I just recently went back to the dr for strep throat and weighed in at a big 260 pounds! I'm six foot tall but still, that's the most I've ever weighed in my life! I was taking singulair for asthma and started to feel even more and more depressed and found out that was a side effect, I can't stand taking BCP's they literally make me nuts, and I've taken metformin and prozac before....I honestly don't know what to do.
I know I'm seriously whining I just need to know that there are others who feel crappy too!

Hi sweetie

You're definitely not alone. I had my period last week which is a good thing I know. But now I'm so damn depressed!! I've had depression for many years but I can never get "used" to it you know? It's such a crap feeling. Just getting out of bed right now is a huge thing

The whole medication thing is a nightmare isn't it? I really empathise with that. I have what my gyn calls severe insulin resistance and so was put on Met immediately, I took it for about 7 or 8 weeks and it made me soooo sick I had to stop taking it. Now, I'm trying the natural route and working with a Nutritionist. I also have to follow a low GI diet which to be quite honest, gives the sh!ts, I start feeling deprived because of all the things I "cant" eat and then I get more depressed, which leads to emotional eating, which leads to more weight gain.

Right now, I feel like I can't win. So no, you're definitely not alone in feeling crappy hun.

Let's hope things improve for both of us soon!!!!!!

You know I have that problem too....I am bipolar, but low carb has helped a lot with my periods and menstral cramping, etc. I also take Apple Cider Vinegar which has helped... I used to be suicidal the week prior to my period, but with low carbing...I honestly don't have that problem...
