I get depressed off and on. I believe it is hormonal, because whenever my pelvic pain returns, my body kind of burns and it feels like I should start a cycle but I don't I also get depressed aound the same time. Like pms mood swing except I use to never have them much when my cycles were more frequent. I have been told by my gyn that I may be starting perimenopause too. I was diagnosed with PCOS a long time ago. I have about 90% of the symptoms of it. The thing is the doctor that diagnosed me never told me much beyond handing me a brochure and he talked to me about losing weight. The current one just says from the various lab results that it looks like I am moving into perimenopause. All I know is sometimes my pelvic pain is really chronic and the depression just comes upon me from out of nowhere. I feel snappy, moody and tearful for no reason. Then it goes away with my pelvic pain. Right now I am in pain and I am feeling depressed. I truly believe it's hormonal, but what can I do help myself? Vitamins or diet?

I was diagnosed with depression way before I finally found a doctor intelligent or curious enough to diagnose my pcos. I got off of zoloft after 12 years of 100 mg/day 2 years ago and have found that my testosterone being lowered by the right amt of medication and a regular sleep pattern has remedied the need for it. I was very depressed, and I still am moody, but feel much more in control of it naturally. I am firmly convinced it was my hormones causing my depression. I don't need a study to tell me - and I hope that more doctors make the leap of treating for hormones before putting all that cloudy mind numbing medication for depression in us!!

I thought I was going crazzzzzzzzyyyyyyy . I've had really bad relationships in the past and I thought my lack of self confidence , feeling ugly , comparing myself to other women was all down to the bad relationships but, from what I have read here it seems that perhaps my crazy hormones are more a factor!!!!!! Do any other women on here get particularly worse when your period is due ?? I'm quite sure my bf coduld quite happily leave me at this time of the month lol ?? Magz xxx

Makes sense to me! I've been suffering with anxiety (OCD) and depression since childhood and was only diagnosed with PCOS this year.
