Unhappy dermatologist

Hi ladies,

Don't know if this is the right place to post, but i'm wondering if you can get referred to a dermatologist by your GP or whether you have to go private.

I have pcos and i have been suffering with acne for a while now, have been to gp who just gave me benzoyl peroxide, which helps a little but makes my skin really dry, but i still keep breaking out, everytime my face starts to clear up, they seem to come back with a vengeance. I've also noticed that i'm getting what i think are pock marks on my cheeks from where they have been and this is making me very self conscious and is starting to get me down.

any info would be great

thanks

Hi, Rach. Your doctor can refer you to a dermatologist; depending on the area, there may be quite a wait, though. Just tell your doctor how distressing you find this problem, all too often they tend to dismiss skin problems as quite minor. Nothing's minor if it's making you feelstressed and depressed!
