Question Dermatologist?

I went to my doctor about my excessive hair problem and she referred me to a dermatologist because she didn't know of anything that could help me. Has anyone else been to a dermatologist for body/facial hair? I'm hesitant to go, I don't want it to be just another waste of my time. Have any of you been given pills or cream that reduce hair growth or anything that would help get rid of the hair?

with laser, it get rid of hair that is there. it does not stop new hair growing in if your hormones are still all over the shop.

I saw a dermatologist for excess hair, primarily on my chin, and he has probably been the most helpful and understanding of the consultants I have seen/am seeing. He is at the same hospital as my gynaecologist so they actually share the same file and both do check over what the other is doing. The derm was the first to prescribe anything - spironolactone - and has had loads of advice for me.
