Default Dermoid tumars of the ovaries???

I was not sure where to post this....so here it goes. Dermoid tumars I think are androgen secreting tumars,Do you guys think Met can help prevent them. Hyperandrogenism is producing to much,so does it mean to much testosterone? These tumors are found to have hair,teeth,bones,cartilige,etc.......in them which sounds like to much testosterone to me.If anyone is familiar with this,Please inform me.

Wow, those sound frightening! I wonder if they are in fact caused by testosterone, than I hope that the Met would help. There are studies that show Metformin could help any woman with excess testosterone (even if she isn't IR).

Best wishes!!

Hi!

I've had two dermoid tumors. The first one I was 19 and the second one I was 35.

My doctor told me it's not related to PCOS--just a weird congenital thing!

Do you have one?

I also have a dermoid tumor. RE found it in November of last year. I am probably having surgery to remove it at the end of June or July depending if I get pg or not. The good thing is my RE says they are not cancerous.

Hope all have a good day and Good Luck

I am not trying to minimalize or sound silly but they had an episode about dermoid tumors on Grey's Anatomy. There was a man who thought he was pregnant...anyway, they too said it was just a scientific anomoly. I'm pretty sure it did not have to do with testosterone, but then again it is just a TV show...who knows! Libby

Yes I have had three!!! One was so big I lost an ovary and then this last time I had 2 little ones inside my ovary. The Dr cut my ovary open and got them out and then closed the ovary back. So no one thinks they could be related to PCOS. I may not have PCOS then.....I don't know. I have never had the common string of pearl cyst and I am NOT IR. However, I take Met anyway in hopes to have some AFs.....and so far I haven't started.
