Default Desogen/Apri and Sinus Infections

I never in a million years would have attributed my chronic sinus infections to my birth control...but what else can I think right now? I've had tons of sinus infections...2 this spring, one right after the other. Then I switched to Yasmin. It had side effects of its own, BUT no sinus infections the entire time I was on it! Now, after being back on Desogen for a month, I have another sinus infection!! I think that's more than coincidence.

Has this happened to anyone else or am I the oddball once again? lol

I'm exactly the same. Both times I was on Desogen (Marvelon in UK) I had chronic sinus problems, sometimes so bad I needed antibiotics. I couldn't really work out any other reason either! I'm not on it now and it's better. I don't smoke and eat healthily so I couldn't work out why I was constantly ill! Grrrr!

OMG!! I knew it!! I'm so sorry you've had to suffer with this too, but I'm so glad I'm not alone!

Are you on any BC now? My endo seems to think I should stay on BC, but Desogen and Yasmin have both given me side effects that I simply can't live with! I'm scared to try any others now

Hi,

No I have just stoppied taking bc (in fact was on about this yesterday) as the side effects are unbearable and I'm yet to see any positive effects. They are just not working for me. I may in the future return to the combined pill as my doctor said that it would be ok "to use with caution" since I get migraines which seem to be oestrogen related. Going to see how long I can last without anything. If I'm desperate I may try Mercilon/Mircette. But the way I'm feeling right now, I don't want to. Desogen/Marvelon only works for me in some ways, but turns me into a sinusitis ridden moody cow!!!!! Lol! Was just on Cerazette but the pain and other nasties were awful.

I'm having a break from it xx

I have chronic sinus infections. My last 6-8 over the course of the last year have been since going off of yasmin because of high BP. Weird. I did have some while on yasmin though but not as many as recently. mine are usually triggered by a cold. Hmmm. I am not sure how to answer this. I am currently on singulair and I notice a difference in my overall congestion level. I've just started taking it and recently had allergy testing (allergic to dust mites)... my PCOS is wildly out of control at the moment, but that is a whole other story.
