Hi Johanna,
I've lived in Miami for about 5 years now. My gyno is Dr. Larry Spiegelman. He works out of Baptist Hospital:
8950 N KENDALL DR STE 302
MIAMI, FL 33176
(305) 595-4070
I mainly see him for my annual pap tests and checkup. I went to see him about a month ago to prepare for TTC. He mentioned that after I stop BCP if I don't get a period on my own that he would start me on Clomid. His approach to PCOS is very relaxed. I really like him as a gyno.
I am seen by an Endo for my PCOS. His name is Dr. Julio Pita. 305-854-5432. He's at Mercy Hospital. He's ok.
Thank you so much Amy for your reply. I really appreciate it. I live more south in Miami Beach so I was looking for a GYN in this area. I surfed the Web and I found a Endocrynologist named ATTIA George R, have you ever heard about him. I come from Europe and just moved to the States so everything is very new for me. Do you know if most of the US GYN are knowlageable about PCOS and Metformin? Are they willing to prescribe it?
I just got married a couple of weeks ago. I am taking Metformin and a BCP called Harmonet. Would like TTC in a year or two.
Congrats on the marriage. I got married about 2 years ago and loved every minute of it. Hope you enjoyed yours.
I haven't heard the that doctor you mentioned. I think my Endo is willing to prescribe MET. I haven't really asked. I was so focused on controlling my symptoms and BCP(Orthonovum 777)/spironolactone combo did it for me so I never switched to MET. Now that I'm off BCP and TTC I've entered a whole new world. It's overwhelming. I've never had insulin problems. Dr. Pita sees alot of older/diabetic patients so he would probably be willing to prescribe MET. He is about a 30 min drive for me. I've learned that it's hard to find a good doctor in Miami so I'm always willing to drive to see one.
I'm considering seeing Dr. Ellen Wood - who everyone has mentioned good things about. I think I'll probably just see various doctors till I find someone I really like and trust. I'm not so sure my Endo can help me get pregnant eventhough he says he can.

FYI...in addition to her Pembroke Pines office, she also has one in south Miami. Maybe it would be closer??
