Got back from an unexpectedly extended holiday in France last night. The day before we were due to come home, I was admitted to hospital and had emergency surgery.
There were three twists in my left tube and the ovary was necrotic. there was also a 5cm cyst which could've ruptured at any time. Without the surgery, I wouldn't be here. I spent 11 days in hospital and got out on Friday. I have a huge (8-9 inch) scar across my abdomen.
I've been to the Fertility clinic and the nurse thinks that my only option now is IVF - there's an 18 month waiting list on the NHS and I can't afford to go private. (Technically speaking, I might not be able to get IVF on the NHS due to already having one child from a previous relationship but I have had all my treatment so far so I might be OK).

I'm really sorry to hear that, and what a way to end a holiday! You're incredibly lucky that cyst didn't rupture, though. I hope you can get IVF - you never know, there might be other options, but if not, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I feel very lucky and very unlucky at the sametime.
Lucky to be alive, to have got to hospital in time but unlucky for it to have happened.
Bizzarely enough, it wasn't that frightening as when they said they were operating, I was just glad that they were doing something to take the pain away (I was shouting and screaming with pain at one point).
It must have been very frightening for my Mum and partner who were both there and talking to the doctors. Unfortunately, I have the best knowledge of French out of the lot of us, so communication was very difficult for them.

Poor you, what an awful experience. Bad enough at home, but in a strange place it must have been terrifying.
I'm glad you're back with us and i hope you feel better very soon.
Hopefully since the nurse has discussed it with you it means that the IVF is a real option for you. the wait is horrendous though. My friend found out last week she's been put on a two year waiting list, they've been trying for 2 years already. It's so cruel.
Take care
