Lightbulb dexamethason

Hi all
my doc prescribed this to me a while back but represcribed it to me last week since I never took it before. I am wondering what I can expect from this drug and what reason do people take it? Any help would be grateful

Question #64 will answer that question. Also, you can google a search looking at Dexamethasone and PCOS.

I was on it for about 5 month, while on it I had a normal PD (like when I was a teenager). In the time that I was on it, I also moved to another part of the state, my new Dr. didn't want to leave me on it. I don't know if it is good to be on it for a long period of time or not. My new GYN I don't have much faith in with my PCOS, currently my PCP is handling all the issues and meds associated with it.

Good luck, I do remember a couple of things that I was told and read in books and on the internet, it is important to take it at night before you go to bed. Has to do with what it is supposed to do with your Adreanal gland. And, I also remember reading that if you are IR, some Dr. don't like using Dexamethasone because steriods can affect the way your body metabolized sugars.

Good luck, and btw, I was on 0.25 mg (a very small dose).

If you are TTC, this might work to induce you to ovulate.

Here's another link with lots of info on it about PCOS and medications that are used.

http://www.infertilityphysician.com/androgen/pcos.html

On the Left, there is a link you can click on for info about taking prednisone/dexamethasone.

Hope this gives you the info you wanted.

I have been on a Dex/Clomid combination for about the last 4 months. The only side effects I ever get from it is insomnia the first couple of nights. Usually the first night that I take it...I wake up several times during the middle of the night. I also felt my heart race a little this past time. I had some Dr. Pepper right before bed so it might have been the combination between the two...Who knows??

Hope all is well
