Im so happy that i found this thread, i just started taking prednisone, for elevated DHEA'S and testosterone, i started with the dexamethasone, i think that is the generic form of Prednisone. and yes we are TTC, i was put on it because something was wrong with my adrenal glands. How has this steriod made you feel?? I get bursts of energy like i had when i was 12 and 13 yrs old it really makes me feel sooooo much better and i have virtually NO Appitite at all! It is a bit of a bummer forcing yourself to eat before you take your med. But it is nice to go all day and never once get hungry. I hope that this medication is going to help me get PG this next month b/c tomorrow is my appointment for Clomid! Im so excited!!
Why were you put on it? Sry if too many questions and excitment, but yours is the first post i have found about this and i have questions for someone who is doing the same stuff that i am.

hey! I also have elevated DHEA and free testoserone. My RE prescribed the dexamethasone but I havent started taking it. I am going to see an Endocrinlogist to find out what is wrong with my adrenal glands before starting any new meds or continuing to TTC. I did three failed clomid cycles. But I have heard very good things about the dexamethasone and clomid combo. I really hope that you get ur BFP this month!
I'm glad to hear that you feel better on the dex.
The only thing that concerns me is that my RE told me that I would have to stay on the dexamethasone for the entire pregnancy when I finally get pg.

Really my Endo told me to take it until i get PG and then stop, but hey everyone is different, Have you researched anything about a condition called cushings?? I am not totally sure but i think the adrenal problems are somehow involved with it. I went to my obgyn yesterday hoping to get clomid but she said she wants me to take ten days of provera and start the met again at 1000 mg per day with the Prednisone and that if when i go back on July 2nd i am not PG she will give the clomid. I am so tired of waiting though it is so very hard. I just keep telling myself that its not that far away and hopefully i will go in and find that i am PG!! Well i hope all goes well if you'd like to talk more you can PM me if you want.

I took 0.5mg of dexamethasone daily for about 6 months while TTC. My OB/GYN put me on it for elevated DHEAS levels. He retested my DHEAS level about a month after I started taking it and it had gotten my level down to the normal range. I thought it was odd that my Dr had me taking it for so long and on a daily basis as some Dr's only have you taking it certain days of your cycle. I honestly don't think my OB/GYN knew what he was doing prescribing it.

Also, I noticed that after about 2 months of taking it, I started getting a lot of bruises on my legs and had no clue how I got them. After talking with others on this board, I found others who had noticed the same thing. Prior to taking Dex, I rarely ever bruised at all. Even after coming off of it, I continued to get a lot of bruises on my legs, sometimes 2 or 3 new ones a week. I noticed I would get them a lot more when I was working out a good bit vs when I wasn't..which may explain why I haven't gotten any in months now, since I'm pregnant and have been too tired to work out much. I've been off of Dex for about 3 years now.

Anyway..back to the TTC/pregnancy and taking dex question. Dex does help to lower you testosterone and DHEAS levels which may be preventing you from Oing or getting PG and in combination with Clomid it may help even more! Some Dr's will tell you to stop Dex when you get PG but others will keep you on it for a little while into your pregnancy I believe.
