Default Dexamethasone and Met together

My doctor has perscribed met and dexamethasone together but really didn't go into great detail why also he is a German doctor and I am an american who speak no German living in Germany. On a army tour as an army wife. I think it has something to do with the adrenal gland not working right but I'm not sure. Does anyone out there know anything about that?

Do a search on Dexamethasone on the whole board. You'll find different information about the reasons it is used. Good luck!

Hi,

I was on Decadron and Metformin together. Decadron (or dexamethasone) blocks at small dose, part of the steroids coming from your adrenal glands that eventually, transfroms into DHEA---)Androstenedione---)Testosterone ---) Oestradiol. This eventually brings down your levels of male hormones and oestrogen that are usually too high in PCOS.

Metformin, as you know, lowers the absorption of glucose in the intestine, decreases the production of glucose by the liver and increases the insulin sensitivity.

I hope this helps.

Hey thank a lot Connie. Yes it did help quite a bit. I've been trying to research Dex and only get that it is a steroid to help with eye infections and stuff like that so you've been a big help.
