Default Dexamethasone (steroid) and immune system ???

I'm taking dexamethasone (TINY dose.. 0.25 mg once a day) to help with adrenal overproduction of testosterone.

Currently I seem to be losing a battle with some sort of bug that has taken up residence in my lungs. It's been going on for a month, and when I started running a low fever yet again, I finally went to the doc. He gave me antibiotics and stuff, but they aren't helping... I've taken 3 doses of the 5 day Z-pack. I also don't see the point in getting a flu shot this year since he said that there is a good chance it won't take, and even when I'm healthy I end up feeling "blah" for about 3 days... so why chance it? He said I had to get well first anyway.

So the question... is there anyone else out there that is taking oral steroids? What do you do to survive this time of year??

I work in a hospital and although minimal, I do have patient contact... and the patients I see are the sick ones. I wash my hands a lot and use the alcohol foam stuff too. So I'm clueless... and sick... and blah. :-)

Thanks!
