Default DHEA sulfate levels and Metformin

I have read online that Metformin has been reported to increase blood levels of DHEA sulfate. If this is so why would my daughters doctor put her on Metformin 500mg bid, when her levels are already high. Her report came back DHEA sulfate 510 the normal range is 65-380. This make any sense to anyone?
