i have not yet been told i have diabetes,, but am going to a endo. in july because my insulin was a bit high when my doc did blood tests..... so i don't really know much about it,,, but i bought a hair waxing kit,, and said that you should not use it if you have diabetes???? why would that be?
Could be because diabetics are more prone to infections and have difficulty fighting infections, and there may be a slight risk of developing an infection with hot waxing. In your case I wouldn't worry about it.

i was at shopper's today and i was looking at one of those files for your feet, for dry skin,, and it said "do not use if you have diabetes"????????? what's up with that? it is on alot of stuff? do you think that it's all to do with infections?
Yeah, it's on a lot of stuff, especially anything dealing with the feet. Diabetics are prone to poor circulation in the feet, which leads to a higher risk of infection. Insurance pays for me to get a "pedicure" every 10 weeks at the podiatrist's office for just that reason (diabetics are encouraged to get their toenails trimmed professionally).

I was told that they always say that kind of thing for diabetics because of the lack of sensation many diabetics have. (You could burn yourself with the wax or hurt your feet filing, etc. and maybe not even realize it.) I agree, I wouldn't worry about it. I've been diabetic for over 2 years and I use a file on my dry heels.
