Diabetic cysters plz. help how to draw up insulin??
I am occurantly on nph insulin but I use the Humulin N pen. Though I wanting this type dispensation in the beginning now i do not. these pens come 5 in a box and despite my dr. Raising my dose my Insurance co. will not give more than 1 box at a time...even while knowing the 1 box only lasts me 23 days...And the pen which i thouht was so convenient because i didnt have to draw it up has become a nusance because if I do not have enough left in 1 pen to give myself my full dosage then i have to stick my self 2x to get it when with a syringe i wouldn't have to..... And so I am whiching to the syringe but is there special way(s) to draw it up?? I am not used to this way..just screwing on a pen needle to a insulin pen.. I need some assistance in the draw up process can any1 of you help me plz... thanks in advance

I don't know about the type you use, but with the pen I use all I have to do is dial up the dose I need and inject myself. I use the levemir pen.

the 1 i have is the same....but when there is not enough in 1 pen for the full dose..then you got to poke yourself more than once to get the correct dosage. so i am switching

I have to do the same thing as you...When I don't have enough in my pen, then I have to stick myself twice too...But it isn't that bad and doesn't hurt ...Just a little time consuming..

well I absoultely love the switch...the needles are way less painful and alot smaller. I can inject myself in my arms with ease..the pen was to bulky and hard to grip because it has noplace to put your fingers like a syringe does and the plugger is much easier to push than the pen.. I told my dr. I am pleased with the switch..

I recently got put on Insulin (I'm on Humulin R and N) and the syringes they used in the hospital have WAY SHORTER needles than the ones that the pharmacy gave me. I think they didn't know what they were dispensing actually....because they first told me they had to order them so I had to come back in a few days. When I went back, they said they had them all along. Kind of scary....
