Red face Diagnosed but blood is fine? New here!

Hi, I recently had a blood test for PCOS because I went to my doc with the following symptoms: facial hair, mid-section obesity, skin tags, and we've been ttc for over a year. Anyhow the blood test came back fine. We did an o-kit in Sept and now I'm pregnant! So I went to a new doctor (my ob doesn't deliver babies) and she did a vaginal u/s and saw a 10cm cyst on my ovary. She also says I have all the clinical signs of PCOS.

So anyhow she doesn't seem to worried about this cyst, or about the pregancy, or about the PCOS. She says you can be diagnosed based on clinical signs. I totally believe I have it because I can't come up with any other explanation for all my issues!

I really can't figure out if PCOS actually affects the development of the baby. Does anyone know? Also I wonder if my PCOS started when I stopped the BCP. I stopped taking it last August and have gained 30 pounds since then. And all these other symptoms started.

DH & I have a daughter who will be 3 tomorrow - and she was conceived on the 1st try. It's a mystery to me why starting last August all these symptoms started!

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi! I am very much like you! I have a 3 yr old who was conceived the first try. I had a m/c and then got pg with my dd after many problems, clomid, and finally metformin was what worked (first month on it). I took the met. for the first 3 months of pg because pcos does make you a little more prone to early m/c. My m/c was at 5 weeks so very early. ANyway, other than that, you will get a break from your symptoms while you are pg. I think you are a little more at risk for gestational diabetes, which I had symptoms of very badly with both pg's and had big babies also (which signals gestational diabetes sometimes) but my bloodwork was normal with both.

Birth control pills can help suppress your symptoms, my ob told me that. He wants me to start them but I just started back up on metformin today so I am waiting on the pill. Oh and I also had a huge cyst on my ovary with this pregnancy and it was painful for a while, I thought I was having a m/c again, but then by my six week check it was almost totally gone. Now it is gone completely but I have been getting them off and on still. I have not been on medication though because I am just now weaning my daughter. Oh that is another thing too, some women have supply issues if you plan to breastfeed but I did not have this problem. You won't know until your milk comes in of course.

THe metformin totally made all of my symptoms go away. I had acne that I had never ever had before, I started gaining weight in my tummy area, and started getting little hairs in places they were not welcome!

So anyway, I wish you all the best in your pg. I think you will be fine. How far along are you? Don't worry about the cyst, my ob assured me it was not a problem other than the discomfort is caused me.

Edited to add: Sorry I forgot to add that my bloodwork was also normal...the title of your post...duh!

Welcome to SC and congrats on your pregnancy!! Sometimes being on BCP will supress the symtoms.
I don't think having pcos will affect how your baby developes!!!

Which bloodwork came back fine? Your symptoms might not be as noticable while you are pregnant but yes, you can be dx'd with normal glucose and hormone levels. Both of mine were normal but my insulin is high and I have other symptoms.
