Diagnosed with PCOS but do I really... I was diagnosed with PCOS last year after going off my birth control pills. The doctor put me on bc when i was 16 because I had not yet started my period. I am now 24 years old and after switching doctors and telling her about this, she said that I should go off of the bcp and see if I would have a period on my own. I waited 6 months and did not get my period on my own. I was perscribed provera and had a period. The Dr. performed lots of lab work and it all came back normal. She did an ultrasound which was normal but she said it looked like I had the "string of pearls" which is common in PCOS. She diagnosed me PCOS and gave me metformin. I take provera every 3 months to have a period. I have been on metformin since July last year..my current dosage is ER 750mg 2x a day (for about 5 months). I have only had periods from provera. My hormones were rechecked a couple of weeks ago and were all normal. I checked my ovulation last month after my provera-induced period and did not ovulate. So my question is.. is it possible to have PCOS with no symptoms other than no period and string of pearls? I am about 6'10 and weigh 140ish.. I have never had a weight problem or any of the other common symptoms of PCOS. My doctor insists that I have PCOS and that there is nothing else she can do for me other than metformin until we're ready to have a baby. We're not ready at this time...but I would like to know what's going on before I'm actually ready.
Ahh.. I know that was a lot of information but ..I'm new to this site and I'm hoping that someone can help me. :-) thank you in advance.. |
