Hi gals,
I just went to my gyn today after some lab work a few weeks ago and she said i have PCOS. She reffered me to my GP so I can get started on metaformin (she said she'll do a better job of dosing and monitoring??) and I am to start spirinalactone. I had a DVT last year so bcp are out of the question. I am very glad ot finally have a few answers to all of my questions.
I am not sure what to expect, but glad I found this message board because it is encouraging to know that I'm not alone.
I just joined the site myself. I was diagnosed about 5 years ago, but just got to the point that I realize I can't do this alone. This site is a good place for info and encouragement. I also just started the Met and Spiro a couple of weeks ago. So far, so good. Good luck to you.
Welcome to SC!! I second what Eva said, you will love it here! It is a very informative site!!

Welcome! There is TONS to learn about PCOS and you came to the right place. Keep in mind that the spiro. is not safe if you're pregnant, so if you're ttc, you may want to rethink that. I imagine your doctor wouldv'e told you about this. BCP really are not proper treatment for PCOS anyway...so it's OK that you can't take them. I can't either because I had a PE (pulmonary embolism) a few years ago. Good luck and keep us updated.
