So we are TTC, and I was diagnosed today with PCOS. Here are the steps that my gyno is taking - i want to make sure this sounds right:
1. I need a liver biopsy to determine why my enzymes are elevated.
2. I need to have the tubes xrayed
So far that's all i know that i need to do.
Any other ideas? Does this sound like the right path?
Welcome to SC. I'm glad you got a diagnosis so you can begin treatment.
I don't know about the liver biopsy, when my liver enzymes were elevated, my dr. said it was likely the met and just had me retest a little sooner than later. By that time they were normal again.
Have you been ttc already? My sister-in-law (has PCOS) had to have tests run on her tubes but they had been ttc for awhile and had already tried met and a few other things to increase the chances of her getting pg.
Met really helped me. It helped me have more regular cycles and I did end up getting pregnant on 1500 mg per day.
Best wishes to you and feel free to email/pm me if you want to talk
Jenny

Welcome to SC! I haven't heard of the liver biopsy either. My doc just ran blood tests on me and a diabetes fasting test. I've been on Met for a while and I think my body is finally responding to it. I'm not sure what you mean about getting your tubes checked, but I just had the HSG test done. It was very painful, but well worth it. My next step is getting fertility drugs from my ob/gyn. There are alot of successful pregnancies on this site and they have all done different things. Check them out on the ttc board. Good luck!

When I was dx they never did a liver biopsy. The only tubes they checked were the fallopian tubes during my u/s to dx PCOS. I got pg on my own all three times. My OB wanted to start with clomid (before #2) but I knew there were other options so went to an endo. and she recommended Met. I never started taking it before #2, had barely gotten to full dose when I found out I was pg with #3. I am not on anything but prometrium right now to stop spotting - do they need to do the biopsy? Maybe get a second opinion?
