Default Diagnosed a year ago...

I was diagnosed a year ago when I was 22. The reason I went to the doctor was because I have endometriosis also and told him my symptoms and he thought it would be a good idea to test for PCOS. Once I found out that I was positive they put me on Metformin which I never seemed to get used to the side affects from it. So I decided to put everything on the back burner. Well a year had passed and I have gained about 30 pounds and I am certain that it is from the PCOS because it is all in my abdomen area. I recently went back to a different doctor and she put me back on Metformin and on Birth Control thinking that it would help out with the weight loss. Well once again that Metformin upset my stomach and made me constipated (instead of having the usual diahrea). So again I stopped taking it but now I seem to be gaining more and more weight in my abdomen. Has anyone else been affected like this or does anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

Kaianne:

I am not yet on Met, but there are herbal supplements (like DCI, I think?) that may help with the insulin resistance if Met is causing problems. On the front page of the forum, jump to the Alternative Remedies board and see what people suggest.
