Default Diane 35

Greetings,

I've recently been switched from Orthro Tri Cyclen to Diane 35 and i'm wondering what kind of experiences others have had with this pill. The Dr. who switched me said it should improve my symptoms and be a better choice of a bcp for me. I was on Orthro Tri Cyclen for several months with no side effects. So far i've been sick getting on it, and I think i've gained a few lbs in weight from it.

Thanks in advance!

I'm looking for just general experiences on it and what to expect. I was a little unsure about switching it as I was having success with Orthro Try Cyclen. I'm glad its worked well for you. I guess I'll give it another few months and see how it goes.

As far as symptoms go I am looking to reduce my facial hair. I don't get a lot but any is too much for me. Other PCOS symptoms for me are mostly under control. I'm not really getting many anymore. My skin is very clear, my hair isn't falling out, and my brown patches of skin have cleared up long ago. My biggest issue to overcome right now is weight, the last thing I need is for a new bcp to make me gain weight! Thanks for your response.

Alexandra, did you get Diane35 in the states and if so how??? I thought we couldn't get it here which has always been a thorn in my side since it is supposed to be such a good choice for PCOS... Yasmin is our closest equivalant and that didn't agree with me...

Post my experience

Hi there,
I have been on Diane-35 for a year now, one side effect that i did get was very tender breats. I found that for a good week or longer after my period, my breasts were sore. Now they are fine, nothing unusal. I was also taking Paxil at the time and I'm not sure if it was diane or paxil that made me feel ill. either way it only lasted the first few months. I know everyone reacts differentlly to medication, so just keep an eye on it. and also I recommend talking to a pharmasist, they would be a great help and have lots of info for you. Good luck.
Debs...

I've been on metformin since May 2004 and i'm having some success with it. I agree its a must for any woman trying to overcome PCOS. I've dropped about 40lbs since May and am continuing to drop fairly slow.. but steady. Thanks for the advice!

A few years ago I switched from Tricyclen to Diane as well. Diane did not agree with me.

I was fine for a while, but as my period loomed closer, my mood swings got out of control! I've never seen myself as fierce or as b!tchy as I was then. It's amazing that my boyfriend didn't leave me.

Having said that, I know several other women (non-PCOSers) who are on Diane and haven't had any mood issues. I also know several who are on tricyclen and have mood issues.

it's too bad that there are so many bcps and we all react differently to them. My doctor would have liked for me to stay on Diane longer, as it is supposed to be ideal for those of us with PCOS. I just couldn't deal with it.

Default Diane...

I was on Diane for about 6 months, and I hated it. I had no sex drive whatsoever, and I was crabby a lot of the time! My poor boyfriend. I also had really bad luck with both Ortho Tri Cyclen, and Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. I'm on Demulen now, and I really like it. I'm still having a period of low sex drive, but that might be from boredom more than anything!!!! (Not that I'm bored with my boyfriend, mind you... Just the sex...)
