Yep, I can get really moody sometimes; I blame it on hormones, though, I never thought that maybe it has something to do with Diane 35.....hmmmmmmmmmmm; maybe it would be a good idea to try something else; I was on Tricyclen for awhile and now that I think about it was in a much better mood! I think, though, that just having PCOS makes it easier to be emotional and moodier sometimes. It'll pass though; try and do things that make you feel better; I like to read (Maeve Binchy and the Shopoholic books are good for a laugh)... or excercise to vent frustration; when I'm really upset or angry with myself or my dh I go for a walk or do something that I enjoy. Hope you feel better! Ask your doc to put you on something else if Diane isn't making you feel the way you should be.

Yes, the diane-35 bcp does make me feel moody too. esp. when I take pill nr. 14. My husband makes even a note in his calendar. I do need this particular pill though because of hirsutism and hairloss, I thought it's the only pill which surpresses the male hormon androgen.
good luck

i have been on diane for about 8 mos now, and certainly notice really big mood swings, starting about a week before my period...the smallest thing can set off a crying bout. but also need to be on it for the anti-androgens.

question...for the other women on diane for hair loss, did you notice any big improvements? i was on met for the first 6 months, which was making my hair fall out, so am not sure yet how effective diane is?

I've had hairloss ever since I've been 15. It is unfortunately a never ending story. It has to do with hormoonimbalances and sensetivity of the hairfollicles to certain male hormones as well. You could get this tested by a dermatologist. Whether the Diane-35 bcp really helps enough depends on several factors....it certainly does help a little but maybe in your case you need more medication. In my country (Holland) they have a generic diane-35 pill, which even triggers more hairloss, because of the diffrent support substances (I found that out after 6 months) I'm allergic to it. Now that I'm back on the official Diane-35 pills that problem evens out a bit.

I never thought of there being a connection between Diane and my crappy mood swings
I guess it is possible . . .

Yes, yes. Diane=terrible mood.
I'm angry and whiny and irritable. I don't like it, I feel almost depressed sometimes. But I guess it helps with the hair issues, so...

Hi Alegna,

What is the name of the generic of Diane that you are on? I am taking something called Minerva. Does that ring a bell?

thanks!

Default Hi Tess987

I'm sorry Minerva doesn't ring a bell to me. The generic Diane35-pill doesn't have an official name here. They just mention the main substances and doctor's assume that that will work as well. (ofcourse it is also a cheaper kind of pill)

regards,

I was on Diane-35 for about 7-8 months and I found that it really messed with my moods. It also made my periods really heavy and I had a lot of cramping. I am on Cyclen now and I believe that it's working much better for me.
