dianette, Tranexamic Acid and Zineryt - very confused - need advice!

Hello

I was diagnosed with PCOS and put on Dianette a few months ago. For the first few months, the Dianette worked wonders - the acne almost completely disappeared, I lost weight, and my periods were regular again but without the period pains.

However, for the past few weeks I've been bleeding constantly, the acne is coming back and I've been feeling tired and teary most of the time - it's like having continuous PMS! It seems like the Dianette has just stopped working. Is this possible?

I'm just terrified that things are going to go back to how they were before I was put on Dianette, (terrible acne and continuous period pains), which would be a nightmare.

I saw my GP today and she put me on tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding and Zineryt for the acne, which is erythromycin and zinc.

I just wanted to ask if anybody has every tried these treatments and whether or not they made things better, (or worse!). Recommendations for other treatments are also welcome, especially for the acne, since I think this is the symptom of PCOS that bothers me the most.

I'd really appreciate your advice

Sorry to hear that you are having problems again!

I have tried all these drugs at some point or other. I have found the same as you on starting to take Diannette - - i lost weight, my spots improved etc but i have been on it for 5 years and things have got worse and worse and i have now stopped taking it. If it works for you then it's great but i found after the initial weight loss i put on alot of weight.

The Zineryt is good. It really helped my spots so i would recommend that. It can dry out your skin though.

And the tranexamic acid i took for painful and heavy periods but it didn't really do anything - i have endometriosis too so this is probably why.

I don;t know if that's been any help.

I'm currently taking only metformin and seeing what that does.
