Default diarrhea & met

Just wondering how many get sick from met all the time. I have been on it since Sept. and still have episodes at least 3 times a week where I can't keep a meal in me.

Dr. said this is normal, but I don't see how this is healthy. Just wondering what if anything you do about getting over that hurdle.

Hi,
I've been on Met since October, and I was having the same issue as you...at least 3x a week until the end of March. I started taking a probitoic, acidophilus, 2x a day, and I have no more issues. I haven't had an episode of Met gut since.

It may be worth a shot for you to see if it helps.

Good luck!
Amanda

Not to be a downer ;P I've been on Met for almost two months now and haven't had a solid BM since (TMI I KNOW!) haha.

I take acidiphilus... I've cut out probably 3/4 of the sugar I ate before. Im following the IR diet.

ug.

I just switched to the met ER, and it's not *as* bad..but still not solid

*shrugs*

Next I guess I'm going to try to add more fiber to my diet.

(PS: South Beach Diet bars might sound good health wise, but taste like crap!)

ya, I still get bouts of diarreha as well. I noticed when I eat like spinach, lettuce, cheese, etc. But I had IBS before met. so it doesn't really bother me much. For all the benefits i'm getting, I'm willing to deal with some

Solid BM? What is that? I tend to get diarrhea if I eat greasy food, chips, chocolate(so unfair!) and now that I am thinking about it I do eat a lot of salad so after that too. I had to stop Met last Friday because I was having surgery Monday. Since I wasn't eating much post op until Thursday I didn't start my Met until then. Well, it is just like starting the meds all over again. ***TMI alert*** I was a little surprised to discover that the, oh no, I have to go RIGHT NOW! explosive diarrhea was back. I guess that is what the doctor meant when she said Met leaves the body quickly after stopping it. I wish I had known that before!

You know, I may need to take back what I said about the probiotic and Met. I think that the probiotic was actually affecting the absorption of Met.

I am going to post a thread about this asking if anyone else had this issue with Met.
