Default Diclofenac

I had the docs this morning and was told that my endometriosis has flared up again, unfortunately. I've been prescribed diclofenac which seems to be an unusal choice since I've only ever heard of it being prescribed for pulled muscles etc.

Has anyone else been prescribed diclofenac for endometriosis and how effective did you find it? I'm having my doubts about it before I've even taken any.

I got diclofenac (Voltarol) when I put my back went out the first time, I got terrible diarrhoea, worse than with Metformin and even Xenical!! It's an anti-flammatory but Ibuprofen worked better for me on all levels.

Thanks for your replies ladies. I'm still not sure if it'll work or not. I haven't had a bad day yet so haven't tried them. My doc is lovely though and if I find that they're not working for me then I'll just go back and see what the next option is.

they should help...have you tried Ibuprofen? well it worked like that...just a painkiller that reduces inflammation. GPs are reducing their prescriptions of Ibuprofen because apparently long term use has been linked to cancer, and also, it's not recommended for people on other meds like Spironolactone or specific blood pressure pills, so I don't get it any more (which is a shame because if worked wonders for my back issue).

As I said, they worked for me, but the diarrhoea was really bad. So bad one day on the way home from work that I had to get off a bus and run to a shop to use their loo. But my father in law gets them for his back and has no problem so don't expect the worst, just be prepared!

good luck, I hope they really help you. I've heard that endometriosis can be very uncomfortable...you need a rest!

Ohh i hate Dicolfenac it made me soo ill and made my symptoms worse, I suffer from muscle spasms in my neck and they try and give these things to me all the time i tell them no way.

I take 1 codeine phosphate and 2 paracetamol when the pain starts now and it works well (though drink plenty of water witht he codeine)
