Default Did anyone else watch Discovery Health today? (Sunday)

They had a marathon of the Discovery Weight Loss Challenge (I think that's what it is called.) One show was completely about people that had lost weight and kept it off. These were supposed to be "average" people that were examples to give us hope and motivation......HA! These were not average people, or at least not IMO.

One man was a physician that weighed over 400 lbs. He lost weight by (get this) taking A YEAR OFF from work, buying a motorhome, and traveling all over America while drinking nothing but protein shakes FOR A YEAR! The average person CANNOT do that!

They also showed several other people that had lost a lot of weight, but these people were not like me (or probably you either). They all admited to eating large quantities of unhealthy food. One woman said she ate 2 or 3 gallons of ice cream a week and never left the couch. First of all, did she not have a job or at least chores to do? And I don't eat a gallon of ice cream in 3 or 4 months , much less 2 or 3 a week!

They do the same thing on that show "I Lost It!" Some people admitted to doing nothing all day but sitting in front of the tv eating. They would eat 12 doughnuts for breakfast and another 12 throughout the day. They ate entire bags of cookies alone. They ate whole large pizzas, pounds of bacon for breakfast or entire loaves of bread with peanut butter. NO WONDER THESE PEOPLE WERE FAT! The truth is , these were people who would be normal size when eating normal amounts of food, but had just let themselves go and gorged.

I eat very little food compared to other women I know and I am still FAT! I don't eat dessert every day or even every week. I hardly ever eat sweets at all and very little bread. NONE of those people mentioned IR or PCOS. And doctors on the very same show, explained that it is almost impossible to lose weight and keep it off because your body fights you!

These people all had time to exercise also. many went to gyms (which I can't afford). One person got up at 4:45 every day to run! Not me!

I don't eat like those people did. Do you?

My Eating habits are not that bad. Sure when I get depressed I fall off the bandwagon eat snack foods. But really losing wieght is not such a simple things as I have found out. Last year I had a gym membership where I worked out everyday after work and I had a personal trainer for 12 weeks who also monitored my food diary. Well I worked my but off
( and spent a lot of money) and by the end of it I hadn't lost a single pound of fat, or gained a single poud of muscle. The only reasoning the trainer could come up with for why I didnt lose any wieght was that I came to training when I was low on energy and after training I went home and had supper??? Losing wieght is not so cut and dry for everybody.

I have also noticed that most of the people on these shows also have gastric bypass surgury. Which does not help us out at all either.
