Cool Did I ovulate?

Hi all,

I've been on a bunch of supplements to help with my PCOS for about a month. I got my period September 1st, after skipping for 2 months. On the 15th and 16th I had heavy EWCM, which got me pretty excited because I hadn't seen that in a couple of months. I was hoping that meant I was finally ovulating again. Well, it's now October 6th and still no period. My cycle has been pretty long since I got off bcp a couple of years ago, so I guess there's still a chance I might get it.

Is it true that you can still have EWCM and not ovulate? I think I read that you could produce the CM, but the hormone that actually releases the egg might be off so you don't actually ovulate. Is this true? Does anyone use ovulation predictor kits and chart their temps even if they're not TTC? I was thinking of doing that. Thanks.

Angela

it is possible that you are seeing EWCM and not ovulating. i always tell my friends who are thinking of TTC in the near future to start charting their temps to see if they get an ovulation pattern, that way if you aren't you can bring your charts to your Dr. who can review them and come up with a course of action to get you back on track.

Thanks for the response. I think I'm definitely going to start charting my temp. My husband and I aren't ready to start trying yet, but I'd like an idea of where my cycle is for when we are ready.

I was charting my BBT for awhile as well, but stopped because I heard to take it while your still in bed, before you get and pee, etc. Well, it's a bit difficult because I am nearly blind w/o glasses on so I would have to get my glasses, find the pen and paper to chart it, get the thermometer, meanwhile I am ready to pee my pants (I have to go right away when I wake up!) Mind you it takes about 2 minutes, which seems like 10.

Anyways I write this because I am wondering how big of a difference this makes if I take it in bed, or if I wait until I go potty, and then take my temp and chart that, weigh myself and chart that. Because I religiously weigh myself everyday, because that works for me and I have a system for it. I need a system for BBT charting as well, I guess it would be better to get up, pee and chart BBT then to not do it at all, but I also want to be accurate. I know your body temp changes after you get up, but if I did it right away I wonder how much it would change?

Any input? Thanks

sweetstar - is there any way that you can keep your glasses and thermometer next to your bed? i keep mine next to my bed and once my alarm clock goes off out it comes. i have a digital one that keeps the last temp on record. so even if i have to go to the pc afterwards and log it it will still be there for me. it really is best before you even sit up in the morning to take your temp. you'd be surprised how quickly your temps can rise. GL
